have all had their hiring windows open within the past month or so, or are currently still open.

In terms of pay and work rules...
Kalitta Air (the big one, not the two smaller)
Omni
ATI
then they kinda even out
iAreo just got raises and puts them starting new FO's at $90k

You have an uneventful flight to HKG, you get to be cruise pilot meaning you dont land of take off, which sucks since you dequal for landings soon and will have to go back to the sim for currency. But the airplane is awesome, it truly is-if only you got to fly it once in a while. You land late-afternoon, get to the very nice hotel in Kowloon, and go out for a dinner alone. You are so tired you can barely see but you're hungry. You sleep, but since you only have 22 hours off it's not great sleep. You look forward to your day off (your "one in seven") and hope it's somewhere nice, last month it was in a place you'd rather not be with a nice hotel. The next day you wake up a bit jet lagged and get lunch, and get ready to go.

Rinse and repeat 14-15 more days. Then come home very tired, and have two days in a fog due to jet lag. No or few ZEDs.

Enjoy until retirement.
Very true on many accounts. Especially if you need Starbucks, Chick Filet and Cinnabon for fuel and stateside hotels on familiar routes multiple times a day so familiar you can micro sleep the approach. Don’t expect a solid schedule although some changes do throw good/bad zingers. If you have good seniority and want status quo, it’s a no brainer and stay put and hopefully it’s the better choice when this dust storm settles eventually. Definitely no guarantee whatsoever ACMI is not for everyone, but they are hiring and may offer another route to your eventual destination while this slowdown works itself out. While the Big 3 will undoubtedly reshape itself into another form however less for the time being, it’s not a bad place to holdout while chairs are being pulled and scrambled about. Several Trans States and Compass folks have a class date or in class from what I’ve heard. Can’t tell you how cargo will pan out later this year, but everything seems to be a gamble. As mentioned, ticket is nice but commute will bite into days off and even tougher during this down cycle as all routes have been constricted significantly and being junior will be tougher. If not so junior then getting lines commuting on work days is easier, but hiring is hit or miss as this year cargo was not growing much at all before this viral stuff. For May - Guam 60+hrs off Korea 26+hrs off, Japan 48+hrs off would have been much nicer without the lockdowns. June - HI 22 hrs, Sydney 70 hrs and Bangkok 24+ but may be a bust once again if on lockdown, but worth a gamble IF it stays intact. Normally it’s a good deal but I have some seniority to be factual, but I will say it’s true the 74 is great to fly and currency has never been an issue for myself as I fly quite a bit relatively speaking since a lot of folks get lazy and want to be 3rd/4th do nothing Pilot so I jump up front. Hop on jet, do your business, get to cruise - back in comfortable clothes for awhile, nap, slap tie on, land and no pax 95% of the time - it works for some of us. Very well put earlier, late goes and early goes so you must acclimate no doubt. Day and night flying to be sure. Definitely isn’t for everyone but some love it, some hate it but it pays the bills and sometimes quite a bit more. Chase YOUR lifestyle or $ or both hopefully whatever suits YOU!

To answer questions on previous pages...

I know several pilots that are applying to the ACMI carriers now. All with 2000+ TPIC (all 121 time), 5000+ TT, bachelors degrees, Check Airmen, no training failures, etc... They got caught between airlines or on the bottom of a list and are looking to move on to ACMI carriers.

If Delta or United furlough, there will be a few thousand pilots with very good credentials that are looking for work anywhere you can get it. If you are senior wherever you are, I would strongly consider staying put. Even the guys at the bottom of the ACMI lists are not necessarily secure right now. They are doing ok today, but that could change tomorrow. Trade embargoes with China (like the passenger embargo that were in the news today) could put a severe damper on international cargo flying.

Stay. For the the love of all that is holy, extend if you can. This is the worst time to get out—I’m living proof.

I am thinking this is very good advice. The airlines and stock market are a lot alike. Being at a regional right now is like buying during a downturn in the stock market. Sure it sucks seeing no movement or even some losses, but you just stay put and when it comes back all of a sudden you are in a great position. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe this time is different, but I don't think so.

I hear ya. I have contingencies, like the reserves, extended active duty etc I will employ as needed.

FWIW, my advice would be to stay where you are, wherever you are. Especially those that are thinking of jumping to another carrier. The more seniority you have, the more you have to lose. No one knows what is going to happen in this industry in the next six months. I've heard everything from 30% furloughs at the majors, to hiring will resume before the end of the summer. I think it's really easy for us to get an itchy trigger finger in times like this.

I think PSA is a pretty solid regional in terms of stability. It's one of the single biggest reasons I chose to come here and I've been happy with that decision. Plan for the worst, hope for the best. I'm planning on the job market being flooded with very experienced pilots, but hoping upgrade classes will resume here before the end of the year.

A mix of Jet and Turboprop time. 4k TT 3500 Turbine multi. 1300 Pic. I will most likely have to shelter somewhere for sure. But staying in means another PCS and separating from family which isn't an option. Long story short.
