There's loose language in the Cadet Letter/CJO that states we shouldn't engage with other airlines. I know its typical for people to rack up CJOs, and go where they want. I just have thoughts in the back of mind the wholly owns will find out I have offers at 2/3 of them. I don't think they really keep track or care, but you never know. Many PSA Cadets I've talked to are in class at other airlines since they've been pushed.

When I signed up for the PSA Cadet Program 2 years ago, the HR pilot said there was no real commitment to them unless you received bonus money. If you wanted to leave before 24 months, you simply paid them back.

As far as PSA class dates go, I've heard so many different things. I don't have a crystal ball, but I don't think most of us would be in PSA class by summer at the earliest. The FedEx pilots are indeed coming, and they have many other high time FOs and DECs in the pipeline. Unless you're a Cadet who actually got the bonuses, they are not making you a priroity. The whole reason I let PSA keep my CTP date is thinking they'd bump me up. Turns out, it made no difference. It might have gotten me an Envoy CJO though.

The main thing that concerns me about PSA is they are being very wishy washy, and aren't giving hard dates for Indoc. They're basically speculating you'll start one month, then push you another 1-2 down the road. They are holding carrots in our faces. I'm sick of it. I wish they let us do things at our own pace, and say something along the lines of, "Just stay where you're at, we'll call you when your time comes." They made a big deal that I would be ready for Indoc on 1/15. Thank god my flight school let me have my CFI job back. Envoy at least figured out their CA imbalance last year, and are now ready to hire FOs off the street again. Envoy claims 2 classes a month, 75-90 FOs each. That should move a lot faster than the 30-40 PSA starts a month. Most of those are DECs anyways.

I have a slight conspiracy theory that PSA took on way too many FOs, and are kinda hoping candidates will leave on their own and find work elsewhere. They will never own up to their hiring miscalculation. I have a friend who has been pushed multiple times. He was supposed to start 10/23, and now told 3/24. That's quite the wait.
Looking at how they have been running the cadet program, I think they have way too much going on to be tracking where their cadets go. You are not in any duty to tell them where you are going, except for returning them the money they spent on ATP-CTP.

go to whoever hires you first. Alaska already stopped pilot hiring. Everything is about to slow down a lot so get in ASAP wherever you can.

they might be able to transfer all your cadet stuff too since both are WO - it won’t be as big of a deal

Also, all the big retention bonuses at Envoy are pro-rated and PSA makes you pay back the whole bonus if you leave.

Unless they’re actually involved with hiring, they don’t have and more insight as to the company’s hiring than any other line pilot.

I start April 8th; received my class date about two weeks prior immediately followed by their request for my travel plans and study documents. I was expecting April 22nd, but received an unexpected phone call from my recruiter with the earlier date (I'd pestered him about every two weeks for the last month or two).

Sounds like things are moving a bit faster now. When did you do your CRB?

Not familiar with CRB. I interviewed in October and had a CJO a few days later. My first available date was March 15, got pushed a bit but aggravated my recruiter for an earlier date and eventually got it.

The recruiter said things should start moving faster in May. But I also heard at WAI that they have 3000+ applications right now.... so it's not going to move super fast.

With the decrease in hiring elsewhere, and only a few flow classes to AA this year, PSA will soon have all of the Captains that they need. They should result in an increase in FO hiring.

Mesa says that they have 2000 applications on file. Things in the regional industry are turning around pretty quickly right now. I would expect the bonuses to start to go away soon as well. Get the good money now, for it may not be there a year from now.

So I just got an email today saying that I can do my ATP CTP 2 weeks from now but there is no confirmed class date after that my deliema is should I join the ATP class I'm booked in with them and forego another regional interview around the same time that is giving out class dates fairly quickly after interview.

First, learn to put some periods in your post. It’s agonizing for many of us to read a super long run on. No, I don’t like being the grammar and punctuation nazi, but it is painful reading those run on sentences.

Second, go with your gut. Nobody can really answer that question but you. My strongly worded advice is to go with the regional that has bases that are relatively close to where you live so it’s an easier move for you. Or, if you can’t move to base, then at least it will be an easier commute. Next in line in your considerations for a regional would be how long you’ll be on reserve. That means a lot especially for guys that commute.

Go with your gut. Things change constantly in this industry, and it can happen on a whim. You could take the offer that’s on the table right now and go with the ATP-CTP class and get it knocked out, and maybe they will come back with a class date. Be patient with it. Things aren’t happening as fast as they were this time last year. It’s different now. Maybe you just have to follow up with them and nudge them a little bit. Sometimes regionals are like that. They are staffed with fresh college grads working in the HR departments who don’t have a lot of experience and are swamped with applications and paperwork and are overworked. Sometimes they may forget about John or Jane and they didn’t mean to.

Or you could forgo the ATP-CTP with PSA and play your hand on this other interview and take a chance? But would you want to do that in this market? Like I said, go with your gut. Something to consider is that things may all of a sudden come to a screeching halt, too. You can’t be too picky right now. You’ve got to get your foot in the door first. The economy might tank and the industry stops almost completely, and now nobody is hiring. What’s your fall back in that case? I say this because this happened to me in March 2020 right as Covid started. I started class at another regional, and I had already completed my ATP-CTP the week prior. On the 1st day of class at the regional, things were so bad they just sent us all home effective immediately due to the massive Covid scare. I had to fall back on flight instruction until things were looking up again. It took awhile, but it was worth it. The good thing was I had already finished my ATP-CTP and got that checked off. Right now, start planning for when things start to get ugly again.
