Been told instructors are going back to line due to decreased training caused by lack of attrition..... Shall see. We are pretty fat right now.... Over 500 pilots for 49 A/C that normally has a 1:7 staffing..... Maybe 1:8 at the best of times....

If they are fat why are they doing on site interviews at the job fair. Do you guys expect a lot of attrition soon?

So what is the current hiring status at PSA? I'd love to get hired there. I've heard nothing but positive things about the place. :)
I LOVE how half the people on Airline Pilot Forums are HR plants! LOL!

I think we need to start talking about something else.... If y'all want to keep talking about this issue do it in private not on the forums it's disrespectful to the guy and all the facts aren't there for a public discussion... Not trying to be a jerk just saying lets keep moving on to more important things... And no, fo type rating aren't starting until everyone's next pc as per the email that was sent out
I had some time to think about what you said, above. Insofar as your concern about the "disrespect" my posts might show to "the guy" (Pro-noun). I think your concerns are faux. I think your true concern is showing disrespect to PSA. After all, the pilot in question remains nameless, while the company does not.

Mainline will be hiring quite a bit starting aug/sept so let's hope for more attrition.

I love that you think I'm an HR plant. I work for PSA and was using a lot of sarcasm there. Keep up the good work. :)

I don't know who you work for, if anyone, but you're wrong if you think the training department here would fail anyone for any reason other than their own doing. It doesn't really matter if you've never failed anything before, this is for real. You might be able to fly circles around anyone in a cessna, but the CRJ is a lot of airplane when you're new to it and some people just aren't sharp enough to handle the pace that things happen. I get plenty of new FOs that are still figuring out what is going on because it's all a new experience, but if you can't get past the sim there is a real issue there. Often that issue is one of attitude. In fact, I've seen our training department go above and beyond to help someone giving their all to get through. If it's not going to happen, though, those guys can spot it because they are extremely experienced and there's no sense continuing in futility. It's a $30 million airplane with $1 billion worth of liability, so a lack of basic skills and knowledge will drown you. A LOFT is as close to real life problems as the sim really gets, so not being able to cut the mustard there likely brought up some serious underlying issues. Having said all of that, it's not really fair for you to sit here and criticize a training department just because your buddy doesn't have what it takes to make it flying jets. I can say with the utmost confidence that whatever reason the training department had for cutting him off was come by honest and after many chances had been given.

Two things they tell you day one of ground school at PSA. Cooperate and graduate. If you put forth the effort and have a good attitude you will succeed. If you walk around with a chip on your shoulder or you have an attitude problem, you will have a tough time. There have been folks with thousands of hours and folks with very minimal time that have failed out. All you need to do is study and pay attention. And just like brownstreak mentioned, the company has gone above and beyond to help some folks out.
