Because maybe some people feel they need a few more hours of experience in the right seat. People think it's no big deal going to the left seat, but in all honesty the more experience you have in the right seat the more smoother of a time you'll have in the left seat.

That time is dependent on the individual. Sounds to me like some want more experience and a few more months of a QOL. Why knock that???

Some want to be a round one line holder right away and bypass round two and reserve altogether. PSA sap rules make for an attractive schedule and pay.

I ended up turning down the DEC interview a couple of weeks ago and recently just got an email asking if I might still be interested to come in and interview for DEC...so I don't think the program is about to end if they're still reaching out to people repeatedly. I'm still on the fence about it...

You're a 767 FO and you want to go to PSA? Huh?

After a few overnights in Kuwaiti 120deg summers, 30 hour deadheads and 20 days straight (or more) away from the fam just about anything sounds better. Upgrade here will also net you about 20-30 hrs of PIC a month so you're not gonna move the career along at all either.

1st year CA pay at PSA is the same as I make on 5th year FO here so money isn't a factor.

Overall the idea of moving somewhere I'll actually fly (and within a couple of time zones of each other) instead of deadhead around the world to do a leg or two, sounds great about now.

Sounds like your mind is already made up then. The longer you wait, the lower your seniority number will be.

Look at PDT. You'll be ahead of rush and your flow time would be shorter. However it depends on where you wanna live also.

Are there any actual DEC's on the forums that are on property (in training or what not) that wouldn't mind PMing me with your thoughts/experience so far?
