I interviewed with XJT. They are a great company, hopefully everything works out for them. On my interview all the system questions i got were what determines VMC and Single-engine service ceiling, a couple Captain questions. But the thing that they really drill you on is the Jepp charts. Try and get your hands on some Mexico jepp charts and know them inside and out. Jeppesen sells a little 250 page book that for about $5.00 bucks which was a life saver for me since all i have ever used were NOS. Good luck. I have a SKW interview in just over a week. maybe we'll see ya there!

You have to call Jepessen directly. they for some reason don't feel it is neccesary to put it on their website. but if you call them it is about 250 pages and is a small bound book called Introduction to jepp charts.

Speaking of systems knowledge - You should know the digestive system of your body very well; if you can't hold it for 8 legs a day with 18 minute quick turns I think that's an automatic end of the interview at any United Express Carrier. Thanks United!

Hey toiletduck, PM me. You got too many messages in your box I can't send anything.
My systems as XJT was "You are a molecule of fuel. Tell me everything I would go through on my way to being used by the engine." And he wouldn't let me draw it out so I had to visualize it in my mind and walk through it that way.
At Skywest the guy took a sheet of paper and divided it up into 3 parts and labeled them Turbine, Prop, Electrical. Then he left for like 15 minutes and I drew out my Prop system, Electrical system and a basic Turbine engine. Then when he came back in he just kinda looked over them and asked a couple things like "what is that?" "What is this?" I guess my drawing wasn't good enough to tell what it was.
Also (being excessive on the studying) I've gone through Section 1 and 2 of the POH and made flashcards of all the little specs of everything in there. Engines, props, A/c dimensions, wing loading (divide weight by wing area), weight limits, Power to weight ratio (divide weight by power), V speeds, CG limits, stuff like that. I've never been asked what the minimum turning radius of a Piper Aztec is but I know it's 36 feet.
Anyway it's not gonna be bad if you know the prop, hydraulic, fuel, and electrical systems. Those are the biggies.

man that's cool. I'd like to go Bro just so i could live in Cali and surf on my time off. But I think I'll end up in the CRJ and jumpseat to the waves when I can. That way I won't have to pay so much to live in Cali.

keep in mind the hidden cost of commuting...the emb is the way to go if you even want to think about surfing - I commuted to DEN for Mesa - I hardly surfed at all...Now I can pretty much surf when I want..
