If you're talking about brand new wet certificate 450 hr TT ERAU grads, I wouldn't count on it.
If anything, it will most likely be an internship that leads to a guaranteed interview after you build so much total time.
I thought it was rough being a low time intern to line pilot guy at ACA (and for the most part I was accepted since I could do the job, but there are always jerks). I can't imagine what a CA that spent 5-10 years at the regionals and 5 years in the right seat of a 717 will think about flying with a 450 hr grad (from any school).

Hopefully the CA will have some perspective and realize that this type of situation has happened before and will probably fade out once pilot supply comes back up.

I know purdue has a pretty solid agreement with Piedmont and UND is working with the NW Airlink carriers. Those two schools have very powerful programs, I really hope they put something together for their students. Riddle has fallen behind them in recent years and hopefully this news will help give students better oppurtunities by forcing schools to compete with each other.

Not that it matters for this thread, but my understanding is Purdue currently has agreements with TSA, Piedmont, Eagle, XJT and there was one more that I think was Pinnacle.
What a switch from a few short years ago...

The program is designed to take kids right out of school. I doubt they will even have 450 TT the way the program is being put together. Riddle, UND, Purdue, Kent state and others already have internships that reduce mins or guarantee interviews. This bridge progam is completely different.
Hopefully the CA will have some perspective and realize that this type of situation has happened before and will probably fade out once pilot supply comes back up.

It's true the captain from AirTran that is organizing the program came into class (at riddle) yesterday and told us all about it.
I'm graduating in May and I asked what opportunities it would provide for seniors that are graduating.
NONE! He walked up to the board wrote down his email address and said send me an email when you get 1000 Turbine PIC!!!!
It sucks being born two years too early I guess?

Agreed.
I have no doubt that many regionals are working with colleges and universities to build or enhance bridge programs, and know first hand that several companies are working with UND right now to hire through the university.
Mesaba, Piedmont, Pinnacle, Colgan, Trans States, Republic, Mesa, Big Sky, Great Lakes, Eagle and ASA all have job postings, most with reduced minimums. Some are with low time: 300TT/25ME (Cape Air), 400TT/50 ME (Trans States) or 500TT/100ME (Eagle).
But I don't expect to see any programs to hire low time piston pilots (with no turbine experience) into the right seat at Air Tran, JetBlue, Spirit, Allegiant or other similar national/major carriers. The pool of qualified applicants coming out of the regionals is just too big.
