I need to figure out the secret to grocery shopping for free that you know about!

Even factoring in the cost of groceries, I averaged about $80-100 savings per trip by bringing my food. So depending on how many trips a month you fly, you could easily save in the range of $400. And one could probably do even better than I did by shopping at Costco and buying in bulk.

To answer the OP's question, I always carried 3 bags - 22" luggage, flight case, and cooler. That said, if you're at a carrier that uses EFBs, I'd definitely consider a combo EFB flight bag/cooler. 3 bags makes commuting or deadheading a pain.

I can pack all my meals for the month on like $75. That per diem figure is post-grocery shopping.

I can and love to, thank you for your concern. Just that you acted like bringing all your food meant you saved all your per diem. Not the case! Unless youre utilizing your local food bank?

To answer the question, two bags, assuming you have efb. Some great cooler/flight bag combos out there

If I meant all my per diem, I would’ve said all my per diem.

Actually it turns out that GrubHub works on the road too. Just make sure you you don't save some hotel as your home address (it might default to that). Limited pickings at 2330 but it extends your radius.

And now you’ve doubled the price of dinner with the delivery fee and tip.

Still not many pickings in Charleston, WV at 1AM even with delivery.

Worth it if it's healthy. Admittedly I'm not a regional FO either.
