Training

To answer your original question...
Training is 5 weeks of ground school...indoc, GOS, CRM, and Systems. 10 sim sessions...8 sessions, 1 checkride, and 1 loft. IOE is 25 hours of course. All in all it took me 2 months and 3 days to finish it all. Training is sink or swim. There is no "train to proficiency" mentality. The union training rep will really help you out, hes more then willing to lead study sessions at night, and you'd be dumb not to go. PM me if you want his information. Live, breath, and sleep training for 2 months, and you'll be just fine.

Common, now. I think he'll do just fine. I watched a guy land a Kingair into GSP from the backseat back in '98. My instructor was in the left seat and let this 30TT land the thing by himself. I was impressed! There's quite a bit of talent out there with little TT.

If he can hack it then go for it. Just don't take down 50 passengers with you. He needs to wear a sign that has a readout of his hours as he stands at the gate. Let's see how many people would get on the plane if the knew how much time he really had.
I'm in the same boat. i'm not trying to get onto his case. I just think the minimums are crap now. and this is a perfect example. He barely has his commercial rating. And he's probably nervous landing the twin. I know I was only comfortable landing the twin after about 50 hours in type. So the jet will be a whole new ball of wax.

A Kingair and a CRJ are two different beasts. I didn't say he couldn't do it. Just want to stay on the other side of the country. J/k

It seems like I've read several comments on here about TSA training being crap and something you want to stay away from. Is there a particularily high percentage of guys that washout compared to other regionals? Why is that?

I was just pulling your chain....Adding some paper to the fire....Lighting a match to the fart. I'm confident that most people who go through the training will be just fine. Best of luck to everyone!
