If he can hack it then go for it. Just don't take down 50 passengers with you. He needs to wear a sign that has a readout of his hours as he stands at the gate. Let's see how many people would get on the plane if the knew how much time he really had.

I'm in the same boat. i'm not trying to get onto his case. I just think the minimums are crap now. and this is a perfect example. He barely has his commercial rating. And he's probably nervous landing the twin. I know I was only comfortable landing the twin after about 50 hours in type. So the jet will be a whole new ball of wax.
But he's not not going to be in the cockpit by himself. You make it sound like its all him.

Congrats though. What side of the country you gonna be flying on?
Wow, thanks for ripping me apart without knowing some background. That's one thing that bothers me about some of the posts on this forum. I don't "barely" have my commercial/multi. It took no time for me to get used to the twin, it's just another airframe that's a bit heavier. Infact I got my commercial/multi about a year ago and jumped back in the twin a couple days ago and it was like I never stopped flying it. Everyone is different. Some people can't handle what others can at 300, 400, or 500 TT. If you are thinking "Wow, you have only flown 100 hours in the past year" think again. Yes, I was in a 141 program and got my comm/multi just shy of 200 TT, so I have flown 150 in the past year. About 90-100 of those hours have been since January teaching instrument and commercial students along with some personal flying on the side. So just because I have 350TT/30ME doesn't mean that I can't handle the jet. This summer when I take our CRJ course will prove that for sure. I'm not trying to sound stuck up or anything but I am confident that I will be able to handle it. So if you want to criticize me and rip me apart everyone go ahead and take your best shot.

Dude, I know you'll be fine...
I just got on with PSA for the CR 200/700
I have around 400/120
ppl flaming you for your low time are the ones that don't have the dates for a class or the ones that needed to add another 0 to their TT
And anybody that says I'm wrong; If FDX calls you tomorrow for a F/O's position.....would you take it?
What was that? You would? You mean woud fly so much airplane with your low hours/experience?
Exactly....
Do the few hundred hours you have on us make us a $hittier pilot than you?
Maybe we just "get it" better than you did :-/
And it's attitudes like that that do not land you an airline job.

PSA, eh? I am seriously considering sending in a resume to them in addition to TSA. I like that PSA has a base in CLT. Did you get to pick your base? Tell ya what, would you mind sending me a brief PM about the interview and any possible pointers? I would love to get on with PSA!

"So just because I have 350TT/30ME doesn't mean that I can't handle the jet."

Actually, it means you have far less experience than what was traditional for that seat a few years ago. Unfortunately, that's how it is now. Just glad it's not my problem.

And, no, I don't blame people for taking jobs as the bar continues to be lowered. I just think it's a sad thing to watch....

You're probably thinking it would have been nice to have gotten in when you had that little time.

Low timers will wash out. High timers will wash out. It all depends on how hard you bust your As* in training.
