Default Skywest or PSA

Hi guys, I am planning to join the airline soon, but I am hesitant which one to choose. Any suggestions?
Another question; Do pilots loose seniority when they change base?

Not overall seniority... but in base yes depending how could be better or worse depending on the seniority of the new base. Advice.. don’t hesitate..

Need more info... where you live, are you willing to relocate, where would you like to end up (legacy, LCC, etc.), age, married/kids, flying background, etc

I am flexible to relocate to somewhere not too cold. Have family with one kid. 2000 TT.
I have heard that You have to wait too long at PSA to hold a line... is that true?

So Who will take advantage when it comes to bidding, travel privileges and etc; overall seniority or base seniority ?

Reserve times (and thus time to hold a line) is increasing at PSA due to a couple different factors.

Number 1 being that we carry over 40% of the pilot group on reserve. You will hear differing opinions as to why this is, but put simply this is what the company feels it needs to do to ensure that all of the flying given to us by American gets covered.

Number 2 we are at the tail end of our scheduled growth. Yes we are still going to be expanding some, but as of this moment they have not announced any more growth beyond our current base structure and about 150ish air frames. We’re currently taking delivery of factory new CRJ900s in exchange for parking some of our old CRJ200s (which I think SkyWest is getting some of? Though I’m not sure about that so I can’t confirm).

A couple things could happen in the near future to reduce current time to hold a line also... Number 1 the pilot group votes for PBS in exchange for increasing our flow from the current 10 /month to whatever they negotiate and a PBS bidding system generates efficiencies that we currently do not have which reduces the amount of reserve pilots needed. And Number 2 they announce more growth somewhere. Biggest rumor right now is a DFW base sometime next year and additional CRJ900s.

You do know they will no longer be making CRJ’s... right... (no more orders will be taken, just finishing the 39 they have left to build)

American still has options for 14 more that can be built. Plus additional growth may not be new airframes...

It’s an old design that’s for sure. Probably time to let the production of it end seeing as there isn’t near as much demand for it anymore. It seems that the 175 is far more favored by pilots and passengers despite being slightly less fuel efficient.
