Have you considered that maybe it’s taking you awhile to get to a major because you can’t fly with half the population? I hope you explain your needs to only fly with men when the interview comes up.

Side note, what do you do if they call in a reserve for you and they’re female? Call in sick and strand your passengers? Or do you let crew services know ahead of time you require a male pilot?

No. not really.

First of all, I’m no math whiz but 6% is not even close to half of anything. I bet the number of female captains is even smaller than 6%. It’s rare that I have to drop a trip.

Second of all, I thought I haven’t been picked up by a major because I only have 700 hours of SIC time...and I don't check any affirmative action boxes...and I didn’t apply. I guess I should look into that stuff huh. 🤔

Bunch of dorky folks here. FAs are humans too they have a soul. There’s plenty of normal FAs out there that you can have a good time and conversations on an overnight. No need to double lock the door or watch yourself because they’re out to get you.

I like hanging out with the crews.

Male, female, gay, straight, white, black, brown, yellow, red or blue. The grannies and grand pa’s. I will avoid hanging out with women my age who I find attractive for the sake of my marriage.

I do tend to avoid the satan worshipping commies. Actually I did have some drinks with a satan worshipping FA so scratch that last example. She was not a commie though.

 

Here is my view, I'm married so I don't go out alone with any FA's alone. Just doesn't seem like it's anything my wife would like to hear even if nothing happens. I'll go out with my female captain for dinner but won't drink and that's it. Again, more because my wife would appreciate it.

It must be different at other airlines. At my airline FAs will write you up for anything. A union rep shared with me a story about an FO that got fired, during the pilot shortage, because he took an $8 snack pack and was reported by an FA. He was in New Mexico doing FFDO training on his own time off when management called him and he couldn’t make it back in time for a meeting, which was within his rights to do according to our contract.

Another story happened on an overnight; two female FAs and one male pilot. They were drinking and having a good time in the hotel hot tub. They all three decided to go back to the same hotel room. Showed up for work the next day without issue. Weeks later, after one of the FAs husband found out, rape charges were held against the pilot. You can guess what happened after that.

FAs can have as many souls as they want, they’re still liabilities that will not hesitate to throw you under the bus if it suits their immediate interests and/or makes them feel empowered. Same is true for female pilots. Search for “Blackout Betty” on here if you need an example.
