I used to go out the with FAs routinely when I was at the regionals, even one on one. As far as "extra-curricular" activities, I am not attracted to 95% of the FAs out there to begin with, so the handful of instances I've ended up alone with an attractive FA are pretty few and far between.
I am more careful now that I'm at a major, but we only stay with the FAs on international long stay overnights. I'll still go out sometimes depending on the crew, but I usually end up ditching them at some point to go do my own thing. I've only had one instance where I went out one on one with an FA and it wasn't even planned. We got to the hotel late, I told the whole crew what I was doing and invited whoever along, one younger cute FA showed up, and off we went. |

I’ve seen these problems with gender dynamics in the military, a full decade before #metoo. I saw CFIs and DPEs get blindsided by false accusations in flight schools. I saw it in the part 135 side of the industry too. I don’t care if you find it offensive, noticing a pattern isn’t a sign of a mental disorder. I’m not going to put myself in any situation where it’s her word against mine without any witnesses or evidence. Period. Things like not sharing an elevator with the FAs, refusing to allow female FAs in the cockpit during a lav break, etc...will paint you as a sexist and the whole problem you're trying to avoid will keep coming back to haunt you. |

You never answered me earlier, what do you do when they give you a female reserve? Call in sick? Gopro the whole flight? |

What would you “pros” do when paired with a female F/O, Captain or F/A for a 16-day trip? Days in SYD, LON, HNL, or some really godforsaken place like Africa. Come on, women are humans without cooties. Sound like a bunch of high schoolers.

I tend to fly with line holders and know who they are in advance anyway. Female FOs don’t stick around long enough to be captains here before being called by delta, JetBlue, United, etc.

Another story happened on an overnight; two female FAs and one male pilot. They were drinking and having a good time in the hotel hot tub. They all three decided to go back to the same hotel room. Showed up for work the next day without issue. Weeks later, after one of the FAs husband found out, rape charges were held against the pilot. You can guess what happened after that. |

People are so fearful of the #metoo movement that they won't get in an elevator with a woman or fly with a female pilot? Crazy times. Sure I haven't been accused of anything by a FA before, but maybe because I also haven't put myself in a weird position with a FA. If you've made it this far as a pilot and you can't figure out good ideas from bad ideas with the opposite sex at work, that's shocking. Either that or there's a lot of socially inept pilots out there. |
