The bonuses are really loans.

You need a different experience, then. Some of us clear $60K easy on second year pay just flying our schedules.

You work at the highest paid regional. Everybody else makes less than you.

Perhaps these mainline pilots complaining should tip for us, considering our low wages subsidize their absurdly high wages. Just like a Ponzi scheme.

I think Regional pilots should tip the van drivers.
Everybody else? Nah....we don’t need to tip a dollar to feel so much better about ourselves.
You know ‘cause we’ve already made it.

I just don’t understand how it affects you if Someone doesn’t tip the van driver. Also the van driver is free to get another job that pays more if he’s really upset that pilots aren’t tipping him. I tip when I travel for leisure, but not when I’m working.

Because, like it or not, when we’re in uniform we’re representing the profession, company, and union if applicable. The same van driver you stiff today might be the van driver that picks me up last because “X airways pilots are cheap anyway and the last guy stiffed me”.

And that’s when you file a complaint with the hotel that their van driver isn’t doing the job they are paying them to do. Me having to tip someone to do the job they were hired to do just seems silly to me.

you're joking right?

This isn't 2002-2011 anymore when regional guys are making 15-20k a year. An entry-level regional pilot is making 55-60k a year, which is more than the average US income of 48k a year. The vast vast vast majority of the public thinks we are extremely overpaid, severely underworked, and whiny about only getting 15-16 days off a month. Being a cheap mofo only enforces this stereotype, which is unfair, but gets perpetuated by guys such as yourself. Open up your wallet.

The “vast” public doesn’t even know any of that. Nice try though.

The vast public doesn't know, that is correct. What he was referring to is what the vast public perceives.

And it perceives that we all make 6 figures plus.

He is correct in that if one doesn't tip he is viewed as cheap, mean and proof that rich people truly do suck. It is irrelevant that regional pilots aren't rich.(at least due to their jobs)
