Mesaba new hires

Once again reading comprehension. Go back read the quote in my original post. Look at the bold in the quote that I am refering to. According to Bored's logic he was saying we have 20% more CA's than FO's(5 ca's/4 fo's). As you can see from the bold in my post(below the quote in my original post) that is not the case. I don't think there is a magical formula how ever it's looking like an industry average of about 11 pilots per plane is what is shaking out.
17 + 36 + 49 = 102 total airframes x 11 ~1122 pilots. Which we haven't quite got to yet. No silly rumors just simple math.

Bored is correct. During normal staffing Mesaba was always at 5/4 staffing. Right now and ever since all the new ac have been coming as of late the fo numbers are inflated to handle turn around times of upgrades and at times attrition. So jumping on someone's case about their assumptions and lack of using your math might not be the best idea when you make assumptions yourself that the CURRENT staffing and Historical staffing are the same. You must take in your time window of reference to make a case for what is current and what is historical. Maybe this reflects on your time with the company.

The hard part is finding what is normal. Now the norm seems to be hire until you furlough. So normal staffing models are fewer and far between. It hasn't always been that way. There use to be times of no hiring and no furloughing. Crazy huh! Especially coming during a time of normal draw down to less flying this is something.
I agree that something is going on. I doubt that this action as of late is normal. Maybe not huge. But something.

im Not sure if this is true or not.....a popular rumor i have been hearing among the bases is that Mesaba might be opening up a ATL base! can anyone chime in?

I have also heard that the announcement could be waiting because of XJ "possibly" becoming a Delta Connection carrier. The "BIG" part of the announcement could be, the next 900s to show up will be in DC paint.

simple math used at the wrong time.

No company in the entire airline industry has 20% more Captains than FO's. Get real.
Wait a minute.....Mesaba is going to get every CRJ 900 produced fly them for Delta and NWA right now before the merger is complete and regardless of scope. I definatly think we are getting the Mesa planes because lord knows how cost effective it would be to have a JFK base for 10 planes. I think we are getting 100 Q400s to replace the Saabs and to grow just because we are that awsome. It must be true because people are talking on apc, in the crew room, and in the cockpit. Something big is going on here........................................
Reality is less fun to talk about.

Any guesses on whether there will be additional classes to the Sept.22 class? Is that class filled?
