Correct all around. I handed my resume to Mesaba with 35 hrs of multi. Now with 1200/250, I am completely comfortable with the Saab, nothing's been broken, no one's been hurt, no captains I've flown with are in therapy (as far as I know). If a good organization evaluates you and offers you the job you've always wanted, why would you turn it down? Mesaba is hiring the pilot, not the hours. Congrats to the new hires. Stay positive, average 3 hours of studying per night, and we'll see you on the line.

You're 'completely comfortable' with 200 hours in the airplane? Maybe I'm not understanding this the right way. Never flown the bug smasher, but I might have been getting comfortable in a warrior with 200 hours in it.

Winter time is coming............

Low time pilots = more liability for those in the left seat. Everything with this industry has changed, putting more responsibility on the Capt... And it doesn't just stop at inexperienced FO's. Check out the gate agents, the ground crew, etc. Pay them pennies and get mostly under-achievers (not referring to pilots/FA's here). Understood, we all have to start somewhere. Ask the flying public their opinion and they would voice concern. Just an opinion here, so take it easy

Thanks everyone. I received an email today with the fedex tracking number for the FOM. No word on what aircraft but I'm not worried about that, I'll find out in class.

Just playing devil's advocate here on the low time pilot issue.......but what were guys getting hired on at the MAJORS with back in the 70's? this was before the technology we have now. Think about that for a second...I know of some guys who flew for TWA and got on with a commercial........NO Multi.........commercial.

I just went and got a 2nd class medical because thats really all i needed. I listed this on my resume when I sent it into Mesaba. Do you think this would prevent me from getting a call? I figured if I got an interview I would go out and spring for a first class.

I suspect you may get an interview, but with all the competition it could be something that keeps you out.

You have to have a first class medical on the first day of class. You might as well go the extra mile and get the 1st class for the interview... it actually might get your paperwork into the pile you want it to be in.
