Mesaba new hires
#3891
CRJ - well, technically our 2004 contract was amendable in 2009. There was a little thing called bankruptcy that screwed that whole plan up. There was an LOA that was signed that among other things cut our pay (with snap backs) and extended the agreement.
Initially the contract was extended to 2011, but I believe because the fleet grew beyond a certain threshold, the contract gets extended further. The good thing however, is that our snap backs will continue and beyond the amendable date, we will get raises until a new contract is signed. The numbers you see on APC will adjust upwards on December 1.

Ah yes, I totally forgot about the bankruptcy! Any idea by how much the pay will increase? This probably has been discussed before, but what's your guys' thought about a possible merger with Comair?

As of 12/1/08, here's a sampling of the pay.
FO pay for all fleets
0-1 $24.20
1-2 $29.02
2-3 $31.86
3-4 $34.70
4-5 $35.74
the scale goes up to 8 years
Saab CA pay
0-1 $44.44
4-5 $51.64
CRJ200 CA pay
0-1 $56.97
4-5 $64.12
CRJ900 CA pay
0-1 $60.99
4-5 $68.64
This December 31, we'll also see our uniform allowances incrementally return starting with a $50 check. Each year we'll get some of it back until we're topped up at $235. Remember where our pay comes from... our 2004 contract and that bankruptcy really only touched our pay and a few other things, some of which we've already gotten back. All our work rules stayed and that's where the value of the money comes in. Soft money as you know.
As for merging with Comair... I seriously doubt they'll want to deal with that mess. What incentive would they have? If they keep up separate they'll be able to whipsaw us. I predict they'll move as much of the behind the scenes work at Comair under the same umbrella Compass and Mesaba currently share. Comair will essentially have front line employees and an SOC. All the rest will be run by the current MCHoldings. Maybe they'll just add another C to that and call it MesabaCompassComair Holdings. Or just rename it DCI.

We are NOT getting the Freedom 900s... at least not right now. Another carrier is getting them. Wonder why they're TDY'ing in CVG?
As for those in the October 6th class... looks like all the 900 spots will be in DTW and for the saab, 5 will be in DTW and 1 in MEM.
Regarding the 200 new pilots... that number has been thrown around by JR, but HR doesn't have an official number to hire. They just know to interview as many a possible and fill the classes as they are determined. This time last year the classes were projected with sizes looking ahead for about a year. Now, they're working on about a 3 week lead time.

There is a lot of speculation and people just making up rumors. However the two things EVERYONE seems to agree on:
1. We are going to be hiring another 200-250 pilots fairly quickly.
2. We are going to be getting increased flying in December.
We have had a suggestion that we NOT be caught without pilots.
Now if we use common sense, which is often missing in these threads, Mesaba probably doesn't have any announcement to make. Spangers and others probably do have some ideas that Delta has for us but until the merger/buyout happens there can be no announcement. Then the announcement will come from Delta.
I do believe that either way the merger goes, we will get more airplanes. The where, when, and what...
I think that Mesaba is probably in a real good place for a change.
Another thing to keep in mind is that we would not hire people into the fleet for airplanes we don't have yet. So expect more SAAB and 900 newhires. Probably not that many more 200 guys. Heck I can't do any more RR days.

Are the 900's based in MSP or are they in DTW/MEM? Is the msp base going junior or senior?
#3898
Will they (other carrier) get their training at the Mesaba training center where the new CRJ900 simulator is being modified to train in the same configuration as the Freedom aircraft ?
#3899
Thats a good one, same configuration as the freedom aircraft, as in they are different from your 900's? please explain that one to us.

Thanks for the help! Are there any new-hire F.O.'s that are going to MSP or will that just not happen?
