200 more!?!?! Wow! That is horrible. I sure hope that doesn't happen. What makes you think that this number could happen though?

There are many who believe that DL will not renew any of the leases on the rest of the saabs as they come up. Currently, there is nothing to replace them with. It wouldn't be the first time XJ reduced an entire fleet and furloughed half our pilot list.

Key word: Currently.
Delta has made a lot of hasty decisions in the last 8 months. I can only imagine how next year will be after SOC.

Word I heard is the Saab leaseholders won't negotiate anyway thanks to the anal-reaming NWA gave them during the bankruptcy. They are better off just taking the planes back to Europe at the end of the leases. Combine that with us and Comair being the only real ways for Delta to cut airframes without penalty and well... start applying to grad school or the military.

Does anyone know what happens if we take the voluntary or if we were to take a LOA? Do we keep our medical and flight benefits, are we still eligible for unemployment?

You should still be able to get unemployment if you take a vol. Flight benefits are gone after 60 days. Medical is gone unless you pay for cobra coverage.
For a LOA it depends on what type and how long.

Flight benefits are good for 90 days....first 30 days are normal flight benefits and then 60 days of flights to find a job. I don't know if the voluntary counts or not but with the invol the government will pay 60% of your health coverage might as long as you are furloughed before Dec 2009.

Guess those are some changes from several years ago when I got the boot.
