Who isn't RAH interested in buying? United? You have to appreciate the irony in Compass, a NWA wholly owned regional flying on the old ACA operating certificate, being sold to Republic (formerly a regional airline!)...an airline (by name) that had previously merged with NWA years ago. There's going to be a lot of 12 fingered babies from all the imbreading that goes on in this industry.

Just curious of your logic behind all this?

1. Delta is offering 226 SIL lines (i believe they pay you 40 hours to stay at home all month)
2. Delta isn't furloughing YET, because right now it will take them too long to recoup the loss associated with furloughing.
3. We've seen the bottom because the market is up this week? Watching too much CNBC are we?
4. Curious how you THINK Delta can make a lot more by selling compass? Seems to me their flying 76 seat jets for 50 seat rates. Max Longevity at compass is 2 year CA rate. Seems like cheap labor to me.

What do I know. I'm a right seat skipper.

Cheers mates

Your info isn't entirely accurate. DAL has ALWAYS offered SILs in the fall & winter. It's 55 hours of pay(can't be a vacation month & you can't pick up open time) for sitting at home all month off duty AND it goes very senior. Airlines staff for the summer, not the winter & as a result typically end up a little heavy in the winter.

Second, DAL COULD furlough between 150-200 and get a ROI in as little as 12 months. If the # goes to 400+ you're looking at closer to 22 months. The drop in morale & a slight uptick are deterents to a small furlough.

Third, in case you haven't noticed the market has not been up just this week but about the last 4 months. That's what the NYSE is saying, not just CNBC.

Last, I think Compass is attractive to RAH because of the E-Jet product, but the flow back goes with the sale and I don't think BB wants that. Comair or Mesaba could be very attractive to Skywest as they will most likely be looking for a life vest if UA files CH 7.

Ok, so what your point? So there are guys on SILs. At NWA last spring we had guys on temp leave & we didn't furlough. It happens. It's not an indication of furlough mitigation.

Lots of valid info up there but i have got to believe compass is a more attractive option for sale. I tend to think mesaba is just so cheap to operate and can grow very quickly if needed or continue to shrink like they are with furloughs and getting rid of the saabs. Comair has been getting abused for how long now? It would be easy for Delta to just keep up with that and maybe get rid of some more 200s. And like others have said with Republic buying up market share and airlines why not pick one up that has a fleet of which they already operate the type. But hey, like everyone else on here i have nothing to back it all up with. None of us know. It could just as likely be Bull*** as anything else.

And what makes you think UAL might file CH 7??? Or are you just mad about something.

Compass is hiring Dispatchers like there is no tomorrow. Rumor has it that there is going to be some consolidation with Compass, Masaba and Comair once everyone is in MSP. It is not looking pretty for anyone.

i guess in reality who the heck cares what happens. Nothing we can do about what delta does to all of us involved with DCI, wholly owned or not. Just "enjoy" the ride is all we can do. yay.

Not mad, nor am I wishing ill will on UA or anyone for that matter. I apologize if I came off that way. I was just throwing out hypothetical scenarios. Seeing as how most of Skywests flying is United Express flying if they were to lose some of that a quick pick up would be to buy another one of DALs Wholly owned carriers.

Once again, I'm not wishing ill will on UA. And again, I'm sorry if it came off that way.
