Also in order to get picked up outside the flow I would need 1k pic. I think I could possibly make captain sooner at the regionals and build that then on the mil side. So quickest upgrade would be best. Also, I'll have a RATP so to meet mine for upgrade will take a bit longer.

PSA has a huge operating in CLT. Piedmont's is much smaller. PSA will have many more options. On a bid today, the junior CLT award was #198X out of 204X. No particular lag to hold CLT

As of the latest data it’s 1.13 years or about 9-10 months once you’re done with training. The outstation reserves are lucky to log 10 hours a month. The CLT reserves are used quite a bit so you’ll probably log similar time as a line holder at Piedmont. The difference is at PSA there’s hope for the reserves. Once you’re a line holder your QOL improves exponentially. At Piedmont your QOL will only marginally improve if at all once you’re a line holder. If I had to choose between 5 years of reserve at PSA or 5 years of line holding at Piedmont I would still choose PSA. Your QOL is going to suck either way. Might as well make more money.
Also, if you’re still considering Piedmont you must not care about QOL, so you could come to PSA and upgrade immediately if you have enough qualifying time. You’ll just be on perma-reserve as a junior captain. Reserve from home isn’t a bad gig though.

Everyone's tolerance is different.
I two legged commuted to DAY for my first two and half months however I held a R1 line right out of training so only had LCR for my first 1/2 month, I then commuted one leg to CVG for 2 months for a R1 line - that sounds better on paper but I had to commute in day before and day after most of the time , still managing to have 11 days off in a row though with SAP; then I said screw it and bid for CLT regardless of whether I was SCR, LCR, BU line or R1 and I ended up with the very last R1 line my first month there. Even at that point though I had a one leg commute to CLT but as far as commutes go it was pretty easy.
Soooo... move to CLT, single leg commute on your own metal for a few months for a line... by the time it gets old bid back to CLT and maybe a month or two on reserve by time that gets old you'll be holding a line again. Just an example, there's more than one way to skin a cat. I'm sure you've already been hit up numerous times by people trying to score a referral but if you have any questions feel free to PM.

negative, most recent data on internal website says 9 months for a R2 line and 1 year for R1 line and you will spend your first three months in training (more if the sims are still backed up) so by the time you actually start flying post IOE, just a few months...
Seasonal fluctuations, CVG closure and the day you start will all have an impact on the times.
So while that all may be true for Greybush, someone who was hired ~9 months ago is holding a R2 line in CLT and someone who was hired ~1 year ago is holding a R1 line on the March bid.
