A player on a farm team needs to prove himself athletic skill wise in order to get picked up by a major league. In aviation your “skills” are a direct correlation to your logbook hours or “experience” if you’re one of those believers. There’s a ton of pilots at regionals with far more “skills” than their counterparts at the majors. So how does this compare to a farm team and major league again?
Its not about skill, it’s about the team that’s paying you. I’ve flown with people at my legacy who shouldn’t be allowed to play T-ball. At the same time, there are people are people at the regionals who can knock the ball out of the park every time at bat, but it’s all about the name on the jersey.

The truth is that the lost decade pretty much proved there is really no difference other than pay and benefits. Unfortunate for those who work as pilots those who run the big 3 realized this too. If they could they would make all their domestic routes "regional" as they know the majority of customers have no clue whether they are flying on a Regional or Mainline aircraft as the product is nearly identical. Sorry if this shatters your world.
You're not shattering my world fam, I fear we are shattering yours. All good either way, it's gonna be a tough fight.

Regionals are menageries... you have inexperienced pilots who are developing potential, experienced pilots waiting for the call, and a few who are stuck by choice or circumstances.
But you also have incorrigible slackers, attitude cases of all stripes, deviant personalities, and misfit toys hiding out in the regional ranks. There's enough of that to make it hard for the good ones to establish a reliable safety culture... you're caught between resisting normalization of deviance and not wanting to come off as a tool.
Professionalism and SOP can be taken for granted at the majors (of course there's always the 1%).

Some pilots didn't have much choice. I've seen boeing rj pilots that can't fly without auto throttles and I know " major " airline pilots that have the personality of a politician. The last pilot I heard that landed on a taxiway was from the major leagues.
Timing is everything and putting pilots into tiny groups that fight against each other is infantile and small minded.
