We got the Olympic bid didn't we? haha. Another thing you need to understand about people from Chicago is we think everything about our city is the greatest...
Sears tower= tallest building in world
Michael Jordan= Greatest athlete ever
85 Bears= greatest team ever things like that....
The watering hole you speak of is Shoeless Joe's and is in the basement of the Ramada I believe. I am at school and its been a while since I went home, so the names of the streets escape me.

Des Plaines is RIGHT by the airport. It's only about a 10 minute drive to the employee parking lot AND you don't have to get on the highway!
Another nice section of town is Schaumburg but that's about a 30 minute drive, depending on if you traffic.
I'm sure you'll be able to find a room for rent from someone on craiglist for around $500 a month.
