Good luck, and hurry back with info. If I am forced to sit right seat for an undetermined period of time and you have the 'fortune' of flying with me, I will share my booze, hookers, wealth of knowledge, and above all else: Top Ramen. Seriously though, have fun!

The 100 pilots hired was told to my be the HR guy at the interview. He said of those 100, 9 were mgmt. pilots and would not fly the line. I don't think that there have been 100 that started class though, and I know that all that have accepted a class date will not show up. The HR folks said that upgrade time will be two to three months, but do the math. So...if any other info is obtained, I appreciate it.

I was told that all pilots are paid FO pay while in training, even if they will be a Captain. Is that correct? Also, anybody know the deal with the 30 days at home after indoc with 18 hrs pay for the month??? I thought it may have been for systems training, but don't you do the systems training in Montreal while you are there for 45 days?

See ya!

Correct...they did say DTW will open in April of next year, and MEM "sometime later" as he shrugged his shoulders. In the interview they did ask what I would do if MEM never was opened, so I don't know if MEM may not happen or was just curious about my loyalty.

I interviewed exactly 2 weeks ago, so they must've had a lot more sign on since then. I was told the same about the 30 days. They actually advised me to continue flying at my current company during that time to bank more $$$. I found that very strange. Yes, those days are paid at F/O pay. I think the 45 days is unrealistic. When I challenged them on that, they said perhaps it would be more like 30. Either way, it's Montreal - bring lots of singles for the classy establishments on St. Catherine's. Trust me, no one wants the upgrade time to be quick as bad as I do, I am just very skeptical at this point. Probably just letting the rumor mill get to me. I was under the impression that the first 175 delivery was scheduled for this month... no sign of it yet.

On a side note: Let's say you're flying at Compass. NWA starts hiring off the street early next year. Will NWA even consider you if you apply? Or is there some 'secret' arrangement between the two that they will ignore all Compass pilots until their 30 months are up? Something to STRONGLY consider. (I haven't thought of a tactful way to ask a Compass management person this yet)

DC said that they have taken delivery of it, and it should be in MSP today (Tuesday).

How long did it take to find out if you were hired? Did you get a phone call or a letter? Congrats!

I can confirm that they have taken delivery of the first aircraft. Got a picture of the delivery ceremony last friday.

As an update, they have currently filled classes through the end of July/beginning of August, which equates to about 65-70 on the seniority list.

Competitive mins are greater than 2500 TT, 1000 Turbine, ATP with some multi-crew PIC experience. Exceptions have been made for career FO's that have "insider help", mainly people that used to work for Independence Air.
Hey Josh,

I know there are many former IA management pilots currently at Compass, but do they really have that much pull in the hiring process? From what I was told all applications go through NWA headquarters in Minneapolis and not through Compass HQ in VA. I also was told that only NWA pilots are conducting the interviews. As a former ACA/IA pilot do you think BT, SS, RH, MO or any of the other ex-IAer's there could pull some strings for me? I applied in April and havn't heard anything back.

All of the people that I know that had inside recommendations from some of the upper level folks from IDE have been called up to MSP for interviews. Don't know what type of pull they have over the entire thing, but it does seem like they have had some impact.

I know that one of the folks they hired has no PIC time (Career FO with time in the 170).

Josh,

That's encouraging. I guess it wouldn't hurt to give them a call since one of the guys there did my initial IOE. BTW, thanks for all your effort in providing a way for ex-IAer's to keep in touch. You've done an awesome job!

No problem! Good luck.

As far as keeping everybody in touch, folks are beginning to bug me about another reunion/party. Hopefully we can get something put together for this fall.
