Higher pilot pay rates at regional airlines could become a problem as carriers seek to balance a pilot shortage with maintaining flights to smaller US communities.

Notice, how they argue that the problem is pilot pay, not poor planning of staffing by any of the (legacy or regional) airlines.... Nor is it the fastest hiring in a generation by the legacies.

Also notice the angle that "small communities will suffer."

What WILL happen FIRST is a reduction in the number of regional flights at medium sized cities by replacing hourly regionals with fewer larger planes. This is a win for decreasing congestion (of both airspace and at hub airports).

Fewer larger planes also INCREASES fuel EFFICIENCY and also LOWERS per-passenger (CASM) costs (especially at the current fuel $$$ and regional pilot $$$).

In 2020 my W-2 was $32k. Let’s not forget to deduct about 20% of that money went to getting to work and remaining in place for reserve. So yeah, poverty levels in 2020. My 2021 W-2 was $37k. Ever so slightly above poverty levels. Factor in work related expenses and I’m back down to poverty levels.

I had a 400% pay increase from where I started this year to where I am now. That wouldn’t be the case if a full/restricted ATP was not the requirement.

If you have five people in your household then yes that was poverty.

Pretty sure that doesn't qualify you for food stamps.

It can depending upon the circumstances. The point is when you’re generating millions of revenue and require years of training to do so it shouldn’t even be in the discussion that you’re close to poverty levels.

Lol if you lived in rural Mississippi. Making 50 to 100K is not much now at days and hasn't been for a while espcially if you live in airline bases.

Well the trick is to not live in a place you can't afford.

Well yeah, again, don't live in a place you can't afford. And $50-100k is enough money for most people to live on.

Now that being said, the Federal Reserve/government is making each dollar worth less and less by printing more and more resulting in price and monetary inflation.

The ability to raise a family in comfort, own a nice house, buy new cars, etc demonstrates that it is certainly not a poverty wage.

RAA is 8 years late to the party as usual. We told them this was coming within 5 years back in 2014. Covid gave them 2 extra years.
