When my ground school started back in March, they told us we'd start IOE within a week of the checkride. Right before going to the sims, they told us the line check airmen were backed up and it'd be at least 2 weeks before we'd start IOE. After my checkride, I actually waited 3 weeks before my first IOE trip, and I was one of the first guys in my class to begin. I'm not sure what the current wait time for IOE is, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's up to a month to 5 weeks. That wait time will start coming down now that they have slowed down the hiring.

For those of you that went through Comair's training, did you guys need your laptop while you were there? I have one, but it is all messed up and probably wont be reliable, wasnt sure if I should get a new one.

not for training, but it is nice to have in my hotel room, it also keeps me from studying a lot.... I have to close it and hide it, so I wont go online...... The hotel room gets boring

I'm on IOE right now, watied 2 weeks to the day. My sim partner only waited 1 week. They hired, or trained a bunch of new check airmen and got caught up.

What do you guys do in the meantime while waiting for IOE? Are you able to get home for a bit?

Hmmmmmm are you saying they hired internally or off the street check airmen, I may be reading this wrong.

Internally.

I think the wait for observations right now is about 1.5 weeks. IOE is about 2-2.5 weeks. Enjoy your (paid) time off, because once you start hitting the line, you wish you would have this much time off.

Oh, don't worry. You have plenty of time off when you're on the line. It's called "being on reserve."
