Eh, this kinda violates economic principles to me. It might be true that some managements might want to pay as little as possible, but if they did, they'd find themselves running out of pilots pretty quickly. I think this is already happening to some extent.

And who conditioned everyone to think that everyone in management at every company is always out to screw you? I'm not saying there aren't bad guys out there, but seriously, this isn't 1904 anymore.

Also, doesn't ALPA represent Mesa? What's going on there?

Normal Economic Principals don’t work in the aviation industry! This is not collage economics!! That Bull ****** doesn’t fly in the real world.

Yeah its happening, and how does managment react? Raise salaries? Increase QOL? No. Temporary signing bonuses. Nothing to help those already here, and nothing that will stay when the current boom fades. Who knows, maybe they'll be asking for consessions again, and we'll be sitting around thinking of the good old days.

I worked for Mesa for nearly 10 years. When I got hired, all of the other regionals were charging 12,000 dollars to "pay for training". Mesa and Eagle were the only two that weren't doing that and I felt fortunate to get on during that time. It wasn't an easy ride by any stretch of the imagination. At that time, I said there were better and worse places to be than Mesa. I cannot say that anymore. Now I say Mesa, the company, is a horrible place to be. Mesa has some really great people working there but they are all bailing out as fast as possible. Many are making lateral moves...that should tell you volumes.

I can't recommend Mesa for anyone...even in your situation.

Option 1 - You could go to Mesa - get your time - get the hell out to another regional. Beware that age 65 might slow hiring and you could be stuck in hell.

Option 2 - Stay where you are, get some more time and go with a more of a quality carrier.

I would vote for Option 2 if I were you but I understand if Option 1 works for you.

Here is something for you to consider....If age 65 is approved in the next year or so, that will slow hiring. It could also stagnate you at a regional for a little while. Make sure you're sitting in a good seat with a good company or it will feel like a million miles in a Yugo....

Sorry SharkAir, maybe I have been conditioned to dislike airline management (it wasn't always that way). It has just been my experience that management will shake your hand with their right hand while holding a knife in left. About 5 years ago I got out of the Army and truly respected the officers and leadership appointed over me, the greatest leadership I have ever had, then got out and received the cold reality of 121 airline management that would stab their mother, lie, cheat and darn near due anything to make more money and get that next bonus or promotion.
Maybe I have had just a few bad experiences but but forgive me for not just throwing blind trust towards them anymore.

I couldn't agree more. I've been at Mesa over a year and half. I've pretty much had it and will be moving on very soon. EVERY SINGLE CAPTAIN I have spoken to wishes they had moved on to another regional as an FO.

DON'T GO TO MESA. YOU WILL REGRET IT.

I used to work at mesa...and I'd pay $7K not to have to go back.
