No offense to Crism, but it is a little funny that there are people trying to get a summer job as an airline pilot.

But seriously, take that job in Ops. You'll be surprised at how much you'll learn about how airlines run. I did the same while i was instructing- it was a lot of fun!

3. What are the chances of being able to choose something like ORD as a base...which is a non-stop flight (1-2hr at that) from PVD (where I live)?
4. How long is the training for Mesa?

Don't really care what type of plane. E120s would be nice or CRJs would be even better.

Edit: This could also apply for Trans States and Piedmont
Sorry but this post is ripe for flamebait. First, please at least ATTEMPT to do some research on a place you would like to be employed by. It shows professionalism. Second, seriously, were you just joking about getting a job at a regional for a "summer job"?

Crism. What is your experience in aviation so far? You need to do some research on how things work in this career. You're in the right place. I'd also suggest jetcareers.com, which is more set up for a newbie. Anyhow, not being critical, but you asked a question that most people in the biz are going to find very funny. Some will find it sad.

But I have to say I've never heard of someone asking if he could work as an airline pilot just for a summer. That's a new one.

Go to the home page of jetcareers.com and read about how things work. Then, read the "perspectives" links about how other guys have done it. You'll be able to answer a lot of your own questions that way.

Seriously, he has to be joking.

Either that or thats how the up and coming pilot group see the RJs now that they have dropped their times to super low mins. I remember when I started flying in 99 the mins were high and my instructors were getting hired in 2000 with 1000/100 and I thought that was low.....

Yeah I'm familiar with how things work. I've been working in the industry for about a year now. I've loaded and marshalled everything from 402s, CRJs, MD88s, A319s, and A321s. I've got 120TT and 8ME and have my Private Multi-Engine ride scheduled for tomorrow.....after 8.1hrs which is the lowest my CFI has ever seen someone do a Multi (VFR only or not). It's in the Twin Comanche...light twin with a Vmc of 78kts...

And you HONESTLY believe that qualifies you for an airline job?! Maybe in Pakistan but not here... I hope this is either flame bait or you got drunk and were trying to be "funny".
