I know NG4 said no merger and the Vag said no merger but I keep hearing grumblings of merger. Even if it is only management, crew scheduling, and office staff ALPA should push for a single carrier petition.

If a merger does get announced Comair's MEC should immediately Go to Mesaba's MEC and together demand that Mesaba quit hiring new pilots and our furloughed guys assigned to any new hire Mesaba position until a merged list can be drawn up.

I want to know when the next furloughees are outa here. Thats what I was thinking would come out today. I got some vacation to start planning! But I guess you can't announce something like furloughs on such a great day like this when we get a new CEO. Probably tomorrow then.

Immature....yeah you're right. But look at the positive. Within minutes of our new CEO's name being announced some folks with too much time on their hands have already given him a nickname...even if it isn't the kindest.

So the challenge will be to tap into this group and see if we can't solve some very pressing issues before us. NG#5 has already stated he needs to make us more competitive......cut the pilot's cost. Well the only way that gets done here is if the senior guys take a buy out.

I also worry that since this gentleman supposedly had a relationship with Mr. Anderson, this may be Comair's last chance. If NG#5 comes back and says its hopeless, they may turn the lights off.

All good points.

We did fine with him running our place. I would hope he just does as well for Comair as he did for Compass. I know there are a few challenges ahead for Comair to overcome though, so best of luck to all of you either way.

In my opinion based on the past 4 years of treatment not from one but rather 4 CEO's it is expected to be pessimistic of yet another.
Pressing issues on this company is a repeating cliche term that has been used during the past four years. The pilot group, mechanics, GO, nor the union can control what has happened or is happening. Obviously CEO's cannot change the course rather they control the course that Delta has already laid out for Comair to follow.
Every CEO has had a project to implement from restructuring, BK , LOA's , and the most recent downsizing. All has resulted in their success, now Comair is now down to a shell of what it was and I feel Mr. "Whats his name" is the final hammer. I believe there are two scenarios that can play out, and Delta has made it clear to "whats his name" what they want. My guess is shut the door turn off the lights, or a merge with either of the NWA regional. In any case, the strategy was laid out with FB, and has been implemented in steps with each new CEO, this being the final one.
No matter what the union does, or how hard we as pilot group or company protest, the fate is already known to Delta and it is a matter of 6 to 9 months before we find out. Personally, I hope I am wrong, but based on historical data and graph, we will be done by end of 09, REGARDLESS of what happens at MESA. Fact of the matter and reality is there are way too many regionals out there and we are expendable. Comair has been processed, put on the fryer waiting to be cooked.

Mesa stock closed at $0.18 / share today. I'm thinking about buying some to hedge my position. For about $20.00 I could buy 100 shares. Then if they go bankrupt I'm happy and I'm only out $20.00. If they bounce back then I could make some money on the stock.

The only problem is that I would hate to take any action that might alter or delay their fate.
