I'd be more concerned about the timing of this buyout than anything. I'll guarantee that more changes are coming that a lot of folks just aren't going to like: CR7/CR9 base in JFK, more shrinking, more reserve, displacements, mergers and an amendable CBA two years hence that I'm sure the company is already thinking about (and so should we).

About the only thing that's going to make life more unbearable for a Comair FO is a furlough but I can think of a sh*tload more things that are going to make life suck more for a 20-year Comair CA with a country club lifestyle in northern KY.

Timing is everything - just like the merger. I'll bet the urgency in the DL/NW was merger was fueled by fear of a re-regulated airline industry. So is the case with the buyout. Once the doors shut on the offer, watch as Comair's little world get turned upside down......again and again and again.

I've been tossing around the idea of taking the early out. Maintenance Control is getting cut big time, like 6-9 guys. There are 5 that are Delta mechs on furlough, so they're up for getting a second whack. My workcenter was already cut twice and we were safe but we got dumped onto someones lap and are trying to merge us with the maintenance schedulers who has never had cuts. Now our butts are on the chopping block again since they have to cut 6. They're trying to corner us with this 'merger" with the other group and some illegal stuff is going to happen if they don't stop. Serious legal stuff like Enron stuff! It won't be us, but I can see someone from the other group being pushed to do something. Max fine per individual is $25,000 and the company is fined a heft sum too. HR turned their backs on us so they could focus on helping all the MCO people. So I can just wash my hands of it take the package and get my stinkin 3 years of yieldfare, stick with it till they cut me, or watch the legal emplosion. Decisions..decisions..decions!

Man, I'm so sorry about how Comair is treating you. In the effort to cut costs, it seems like they are just killing moral. If they are making you do something illegal (or you suspect such) you should call the Anonymous FAA tip line

I don't think things will be any different in 991 years, so let's say any year with "AD" after it.

That's because all the smart people moved on from Comair and looking for a new job or doing something else, while some of you guys are still posting away, speculating, guessing and calculating your odds of getting recalled or how many people are going to take the buyout.

Or it's saturday night and all the cool people with money are out drinking beers.

Guess I just gave myself up as one of the uncools ey?

I blame it on insufficient funds.
