Hey, it could be worse... We are once again parking HALF our fleet with the accompanying furloughs/downgrades. All our Saabs will be gone in the next 18 months with no replacement... That "core fleet" we needed to keep to survive the "scamruptcy" is well on it's way out the door along with everyone hired since that travishamracray was put in place.

We have parked a 1/3rd of our fleet (60 some airplanes), since our sham of a bankruptcy and most people hired since then are on furlough (300+).

Welcome to the club. I guess that is the price of business in this economic depression.

Ok, fella's try not to take this the wrong way. I spent nearly 10 yrs of my life rotting away at Comair, luckly I got a job at a Major airline; NWA/DAL. I have been on RSV at Comair, even my last 2 months working there. My last 2weeks there I worked 6 on 1 off 6 on, I was used every day to the tune of 59.5 hours. Now on RSV at NWA after almost 2 yrs, I am still on the NWA work rules, I have only been called for what is needed NOT was is left over. I have been called to work 16 days since August 1st. I have been at home for every holiday so far, however that is a rarity. Nonetheless there are still things to look forward in this career. Everytime I think about complaining, I think of my time at Comair and my thoughts quickly turn into smiles. The best day at Comair any of you will ever have is your last, even if you are F'ed. Good luck to all

Dude..........that brought tears to my eyes. (sniff) Glad to see you achieved escape velocity from this place. O.K. so what's new? I'm not trying to be a downer (though I'm sure some chicks into felatio would like that) but what I have heard from managers about Comair's future:
1.) De(i)lt(do)a hates the TAJ MAHAL a.k.a. the G.O. building. expect to see it gone in 2010.
2.) Comair is being used as filler. Delta's plan is to whittle this airline to 0.
3.)Recalls are being used to cover system anomolies. They want to get the DCI carriers where they want them to best utilize them in the system.
Translation: Have you a back up plan?
Yes, this is all rumor and doesn't mean a thing and I do hope its' proven untrue- but witht the way DILDO ah DELTA treats thier wholly owneds one must wonder.
Anyhoo be safe!! Anyone watch the new bachelor or plan to yet? yes I am jealous of the fact some dude from ASA is the new bachelor. Our proffesion has sunk to a new low. Pilots appearing on these realitiy shows to help ends meet and a bunch of hot, shallow scantily clad women vying for his attention. Shame (sarcasm)

Well I got a response from the JB. He said basically we are properly staffed and disagreed with me. Actually we have a hundred extra crews. He also said swing by the GO to find out the bigger picture sometime. Seems like a decent guy. Thanked me for putting up with working on the holidays. Oh well nothing as usual. I think he forwarded my letter to DS and SB. At least he responded I guess.

So, there are 200 pilots sitting around with nothing to do? Where were they this past week, when people were timing out?

Maybe there are 200 old timers that only fly a few times a month??

I'm sorry, but Comair has never been properly staffed. When you have nearly half of the pilot group on reserve, something ain't right! Reserves are there to cover sick calls, displaced crews, ferry flights, but not to cover a bunch of Open Time. When you are Junior Manning or extending people, you are not properly staffed! Also, once in a while pilots want to actually use a personal day or vacation time, but when your request is denied because of "staffing", then you are no properly staffed! Comair always seems to run out of crews on bad weather days. To Comair, properly staffed means unused reservists! As long as there are reservists not being used, they think they are properly staffed. Nothing going? Let's just put 'em on ready reserve so they are being utilized!

They want us to come over to the GO to find out the big picture? It should be the other way around, they need to come out and see what we have to deal with and talk with us Pilots, F/As out on the front line. God forbid they would listen to us that are actually out there dealing with the daily BS!

As far as recalls... Well, I guess I'll crap in one hand and wish in the other and see which one fills up first.
