Well I got a response from the JB. He said basically we are properly staffed and disagreed with me. Actually we have a hundred extra crews. He also said swing by the GO to find out the bigger picture sometime. Seems like a decent guy. Thanked me for putting up with working on the holidays. Oh well nothing as usual. I think he forwarded my letter to DS and SB. At least he responded I guess.
Bitter have a favor to ask. Please check your PMs.
Thanks
The new checklist is rather awkward.
My biggest concern is the Arrival check. It's poorly timed and leaves out important items. For example, why are we waiting until below 10K to check the altimeter for the first time. Also, if this is a 50 checklist, why are we notifying Flight Attendants.

I am curious myself as to why we need a new checklist. Nothing wrong with the old one.
But kudos for making the change in the depths of winter, during the holidays...
As for talking to Bendoritis, I'd love to read the memos/emails he sent to the NWA mechanics in the weeks prior to breaking their union and replacing them with scabs.
I am glad we eliminated the cruise check; so unnecessary. But, like I said, the arrival check is just wrong. If we run the checklist as written, we are going to be tossing the lights and the seatbelt sign on at 18K. Hell, the lights may even still be on because we forgot to turn them off because of the nonexistent 10K check.
In a way I like the runway change check, but at the same time why do we even need it. If we are relied upon to use "good airmanship" to accomplish the tasks of the now defunct 10K and cruise checks, why do we need a guide to take care of a runway change?
