Do they let the Americans do that, or do you have to be Japanese?

I have seen 50s with XJ on them, but maybe that was back when NWA still had a couple gates there. Same for the Compass EMBs - I haven't seen one in months hence my quote "occasionally Compass"

Maybe they were XJ tail numbers flying for Pinnacle?

In any case, I guess that proves the old adage "Once Delta cuts you to nothing, the next round of cuts falls on the other guy"

Mesaba occasionally came into CVG from MSP and then on to DTW or back to MSP, before and just after the merger.

Yeah, Mesaba used to do some flights between MSP and CVG with the RJ200. That came to a stop quite a while ago. Mesaba only has 2 airplanes with XJ on the tail. The rest of the 200s came over from Pinnacle/Comair so 17 of them have random numbers and letters. Not XJ. No XJ tail numbers on Pinnacle's planes either. Mesaba does have a hanger there. If you do see XJ planes hanging out in CVG they aren't revenue flights. Remember I was commenting on the post that said Daddy Delta could reduce Mesaba 50 seaters from CVG. That wouldn't include ferry flights.

Fixed it for ya! The KCAB owns it now and they require a $1,000,000 good faith payment just to entertain the idea of purchasing it! It's really nice and modern, but Daddy DL said no way unless the KCAB dropped the price and the stupid million dollar fee. The only XJ aircraft you'll see in CVG are sitting out in front of, or in the Comair hangars.

Anyone hear the story about R.A. at the shareholders meeting?
He was asked why in the hell are you contracting work out to contract carriers when you have 3 wholly owned?

They say he refused to answer the question after it was posed to him over and over. Let the revolt begin!!!

Easy - because when Delta pays millions to contract carriers they have no control over where that money goes (bail out USAir and United, purchase Frontier and MidWest).

Wait, maybe that's a good reason not to give millions to contract carriers?

It makes perfect financial sense for Delta to pay contractors a profit so airlines like Republic can turn around and use that money to acquire other carriers that directly compete with Delta.

Who in their right mind would want to pay an entity that you 100% own the cost of doing business..when you could pay a little extra for a direct competitor's new billboard saying how much Delta sucks and that you should fly their shiny jets?

I don't know about you, but why should I pay my son $10 a week to mow the lawn, when I could pay the neighbor $20 a week to do the same job...It just doesn't make sense.

PSH and you pilots think you understand economics

I've had this question for over a year. I asked a shareholder friend of mine to submit that question to RA at the next shareholder meeting or conference call. He may not owe an employee group that answer but he absolutely does to shareholders.

If I were a shareholder, I'd be flippin' ****ed knowing my stock is stagnant at someone else's gain for no "reasonable" rationale.

Just to be fair, RA wasn't reponsible for any of these contracts. That was on Gerald Grinstein's watch. RA has had to deal with them and do what he can to shed them. Freedom didn't live up to it's part of the contract which gave Delta it's first contract to cancel. They offered to pay off MAG to cancel Freedom's contract, but JO gave them the finger, so Delta canceled anyways. They were able to buy off Xjet's contract and Big Sky went belly up.

Delta has already come up with a cost and plan for cancelling Chautauqua and S5's contract. If the stockholders are indeed on RA's butt, then I'd look for some contract cancellations in March when Chautauqa and S5's contract can be cancelled. Delta might have to take on the leases on those aircraft if BB pushes for it per the contract. SkyWest is safe and ASA is pretty safe, until those performance milestones come due. If I remeber correctly have to make themselves cheaper than Compass and Mesaba to stay in the game.
