It's almost like we've had this discussion sometime, because the kid mowing the lawn comparison is the same one I've been using for years.

Now with Republic buying Midwest and Frontier to compete with their mainline partners, we need to update the comparison...

It's like paying the neighbor kid $20 to mow your lawn, knowing he's going to spend it on spraypaint and condoms. And did I mention, the side of your garage keeps getting tagged and he wants to date your daughter?

Delta logic - don't try to figure it out.

Is that good or bad? And how about captains? Do they just need FO's in CVG?

Hey guys. I flew at OH for one year before leaving in early '08. I had heard about the C concourse at CVG being abandoned, but had never been though Cincy until a few days ago. It was a shock to see absolutely nothing going on at C. Really drove home how tough it is. It actually made me sad thinking about the time spent flying in and out of there. Best of luck to all the Comair pilots on furlough. Things will get better.

Just Fo's no Ca vacancies. Guess it depends on your point of view wether it is good or bad. There are a few guys that would rather be reserve in CVG since they live there than have a line and commute up to JFK. CVG-JFK is a rough commute.

Me personally, I'm not going back to CVG...hoping 33 folks senior to me take them.

I don't know about you, but why should I pay my son $10 a week to mow the lawn, when I could pay the neighbor $20 a week to do the same job...It just doesn't make sense.

PSH and you pilots think you understand economics
Problem is, a better analogy would be "why pay my son $20 per week when I could pay the neighbor $10 a week to do the same job..." That is a better representation of the issue Delta has...that being said, I agree that you should keep as much in house as you can, because there are advantages to that beyond simple cost per block hour, much like there are long term advantages to paying your own son, even if it cheaper to pay the neighbor in the short term.

But the point of my post is to point out that your analogy is inaccurate.

How is his conclusion inaccurate? I heard of some of the bidding Comair bid on to fly for Delta and they were very competitive. Delta still farmed the flying out. When Freddy boy gave the flying to Comair when Mesa was screwing up and told them to hire 300+ pilots for that R.A. shut that down quick and gave it to Mesaba, whose cost are the same if not comparable to Comair.
Inaccurate? Sir I respectfully disagree with your conclusion of these facts. from the time this merger was annouced and a reporter mentioned the Comair name, you could see R.A.'s strong dislike for Comair. I think the slow slide to oblivion has begun for this airline, and unless the stockholders get R(eally) A(nal) out of Delta's board room, this new Delta will not last 10 years.

Still trying to figure out why the hell you would put someone who ran Northworst into the ground in charge of an airline that was doing relatively well before that fool came along.

Inaccurate?
Do you really think Mesaba and Comair have similar costs?

P.S. Yes I'm a Mesaba pilot on your own thread but I don't mean this in a ****ing-match sort of way.

You missed the sarcasm of his post. It's supposed to be bas-ackwards. His analogy is the Delta way.

Difference between crew costs for airlines are not the issue. The differences are like 3-8 bucks an hour. If the knuckleheads that tried to recall our reps last year had their way we would be working for less. They wanted to take pay cuts to preserve jobs, lot of good that has done here.
