Really? That is so wrong in so many ways. Is anyone going to say anything to him/her?

Does this tool realize if nobody picked up open time, the company would have been forced to bring back more furloughees, which would make him more senior?

Has the union ever looked at the effect of picking up open time? Better yet, can't they just come out and say, "Hey, dumbasses...picking up time means the company can do with less!!"

Or is that considered a "job action"?...they could use code like "Fly safe, and fly the contract" really means "Don't accept broken aircraft, and slow down".

let me get this right....it's not okay to pick up open time according to who? In the past the union has come out and said to not pick up open time. This is not the case at this time. From what I can see, some people are picking it up and some people are grumbling about the fact that those people are picking up EF. There isn't much that seems too organized about it. The flying is being done, either by EF'ers or by people that get JM'ed.

BTW, I have never picked up EF (even before there were furloughs; I'm lazy) but have been JM'ed a lot.

when we started furloughing, i asked the union about their position on open time. i was told that officially they can't discourage it because it's allowed by the contract - organized resistance would be considered a job action.

but personally, I would have no problem with line pilots naming names (on our private ALPA web board). let those that pick up EF defend themselves.

I'm the king of sarcasm, but I wanted to be sure.

And after 8 years in the right seat at Comair, I guess you could honestly say I didn't make it in the airline business.

NoStep,

I agree. ONE LIST! MAG may not have the best pay but Section 1 of their CBA should be the standard. With all this consolidation fever going around, I'm afraid that there are going to be many pilots that will soon wish they had it.
