Hey guys.... Ive gotten so many emails from the union.....and it seems in like the last 5 or 6 emails they have completely not mentioned the furloughs.... have we been forgotten already? Its not too late for furlough mitigation....... but it seems we've given up? Once again.... I am sitting READY TO GO ALL DAY on my window, as I am practically the only one available.....

Check airmen don't have special access to open time. The fllight standards scheduler has access to the whole scheduling system, but only assigns trips to check airmen to perform check airman duties like OE, IOE, and special checks for pilots returning from medical and maternity leave, etc...
When you see a check airman with a 95 hour line, it may be due to the fact that they did a whole trip of line checks which can be very productive since you're just jumpseating around the system for 4 days, or they have other duties assigned that added line value.
All of our check airman are ALPA pilots and are held to the same standards as the other pilots. I haven't heard of any check airman picking up open time. If you hear of one picking up open time, I would report it to your reps and they will be "spoken to" like any other pilot would.

It seems as though guys are leaving their positions with ALPA at a pretty swift rate. Just curious from some of those who are giving their time what you think the reasoning may be. I know you guys do a lot for us and work around the clock doing so, however you don't want the people you serve to lose confidence in you and your abilities. Over the past 2 years your communication stategies between the MEC, Pilot, Company have been failing. The pilots that you represent can't even support your views if they don't even know what they are.

Due to staffing issues I can not get a hold of HR. I am beginning to hate that word. Due to staffing we can't release you, due to staffing we can not accommodate your ADT request, due to staffing we can not take your call, due to staffing at other DCI carriers... sigh
Anyway here is my question, regarding Unemployment Benefits. Do we file in the state we live in (says must be employed in the state of FL) or in NY because that is my base or in Northern By God Kentucky because that is our company address?
Your unemployment check will be delayed until further notice, DUE TO STAFFING!!

I for one do not. All pilots (ful or part time) must be given benefits, and it shall not be forced onto anyone. I don't like the part time pilot thing anyways, this is a job not a flying club.

It's a paycheck, isn't it? And correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the part time FA voluntary? And it's still SOMETHING, which while I'm not one of the guys that were furloughed, I'd imagine it is better than nothing.
