I'd say yes, since it was a bunch of TOTD Delta pilots that stupidly gave away scope years ago because flying "little jets" and turboprops was beneath them. Idiots.
Then OH got on DelTaCo's bad side by having the audacity to demand a decent contract Clearly there is a price to be paid for pretty much going it alone and having the courage to try and raise the bar in the regional industry.
The demise of OH is one of many black days in this industry since 1978 (thanks Jimmy, you @$$-reaming moron). The piloting profession as a whole is certainly not better off for this - not as long as the flying is being (or in this case, already has been) shifted to another carrier who will do it even cheaper on the backs of it's pilots.
Perhaps the senior DelTaCo pilots should apologize for (along with Unotinental) for creating the situation where this scenario was even plausible.

FYI don't hold your breath for an apology as the senior DAL guys you speak of are long gone.

Unfortunately, that sort of introspection is hard to find in the "I've got mine, screw the rest of you crowd."
I'd settle for others (like no-nuts) not kicking them when they're down. That's a TOTY move and should result in a time out from the mods, or a blanket party. D-bags (and for the record, I don't have anything agaist DelTaCo guys - I'm platinum on them by choice, always well treated, but part of the 5% is making them look bad).
Enough thread drift on my part though - I truly am sorry for all of the good people at OH, I have one very good friend there and a number of acquaintances. Having been kicked to the curb myself twice in less than five years, I know how much it sucks. Best of luck to all of you.

In the end, this outcome is the inevitable result of RJ crews asking for mainline groups to "take back scope". What did you think would happen, the mainlines would hire you, one for one, as MD-88 pilots? There WILL be consolidation in the regionals and that fact WILL result in fewer pilots required unless their is economic growth to expand the industry. Retirements might offer new seats, but are not expansion, only replacements.
For those wishing mainline groups didn't "sell" scope, if they hadn't done so, how would you have gotten a flying job otherwise?

The only way you'd keep the flight benefits is if ALPA will negotiate Something. The company will no longer exist and you're no longer an employee or a retiree, I don't see why they'd let you keep them. If they negotiate something, it'll be for a month or two, unless Delta has a heart and let you keep them.
