No dude! Aren't you glad we are getting Northwest travel benefits now, too? Blah.

Depends if your seniority is higher than mine.

Okay, I'l bite. What's going to happen to Comair? You guys and Mesaba to become the worlds largest regional now and boot Eagle from that vaunted spot??
Or, to hopefully remain within the Delta family?

Even if Mesaba and Comair merged it wouldn't be the biggest regional...total we would only have about 230 planes between the two of us.

That being said, I doubt they will merge the two.

Thinking that Comair stands to gain anything from this merger is a waste of time. Our company president's communique this morning came from an email for crying out loud. Not from a press conference with the Cincinnati newspapers or media or with corporate communications, but an email. Comair is but a carbunkle on this camel's arse of an airline and has been since day one, except for the day Delta drained every last red cent from Comair's cash-flush bank accounts.

We are small potatoes in this game and if anyone thinks the efforts of the RJDC meant anything with regards to ALPA National/DALPA including us in high-powered decisions then they're crazy. Nobody invited us to the dinner table. At least Compass is represented by the NWA MEC. Comair will a) stay status quo, b) shrink more (I guess that's still status quo or c) be whittled down to ground handling only. I feel bad for anyone "invested" in the Cinci-tucky area with families and property.

Ask the Mesaba people how much information was posted on their company site....as of this afternoon NOTHING. At least at Comair, they have acknowledged that the merger is taking place.

Maybe so, but it's no great consolation here. Mesaba was purchased as a wholly-owned subsidiary by Northwest POST-bankruptcy and has grown by leaps and bounds since then. They were all but defunct prior to that and have been hiring like mad and getting new aircraft -- hiring street captains as a matter of fact. Delta has treated its DCI carriers with a rare contempt. I don't know how NW deals with its regionals but it can't be any worse than Delta which has done nothing except shrink Comair. I guess I wouldn't have minded the email memo as much if we were at least upgrading captains, not getting rid of airframes, losing flight hours and routes and cost-containing our business into oblivion while other darlings of the DCI world grow by leaps and bounds (except Freedom of course).

But what I do I know. I'm just a pie-lut.

Didn't a bid just come out for 36 new captains, as well as the 24 that are already scheduled for class in April-May?

Or did they cancel those too?

An overdue vacancy bid for captains isn't growth -- it's catchup. Just ask our captains that are permanent fixtures in the crew lounge that have been on reserve for 6+ years.....as captains....at a regional.

I've been here long enough to see a mess of vacancy bids issued then cancelled. I'm just trying to be realistic about all this crap. Maybe it's overtly negative but I'm jaded after years of being fed crap from a non-management team. On the positive side, I don't see Comair going away as much as I see a complete makeover.

Mumu,

If Comair is as bad as you make it out to be, why are you still here? If I was as miserable as you seem to be, I'd be trading stocks or selling used cars!
