Well, you'll see if the furlough talks are real or not if you get a letter. In the meantime, why don't you just do your job. There is nothing we can do. We have no control over this. It's just part of this industry. I'm just sick and tired of all these [blank] furlough talks.

Tuesdays from 930ish-130ish have little to no flights, Wedsnesdays are reduced a little, Saturday nights are reduced, Sunday mornings are reduced. That's the normal flight schedule. Holiday schedule won't kick in until +/- 1-2 days from the holiday

Ok, regardless if are sick of hearing about furloughs, the reality is that it is gonna happen or some sort of huge reduction is going to occur. If you do not wish to read this post ..DON'T!!
I just completed a very lengthy phone conversation with the only two reliable person's in this company and quite frankly who have the information and need to know. Here is the scoop in a nutshell:
1: Situation is BAD right now...those were the exact words.
2: Talks with Unions occurring as we speak...early outs (60 rule) plan in effect. Soft numbers with the 60 plan involve approx 300 pilots, so if half take it that takes care of all if not most of "first wave" of cuts..exact quote again.
3: Approximate 2600 hours of reduction coming in Sept. (12 aircraft being parked) MORE in Oct. which may and most likely mean MORE asked to leave whether furloughs, cola's etc...these cuts are everywhere including admin an so on.
4: All of this flying which we were projected to get was based on Mesa scenario which now is going back to them...could be until 2009 before a decision is made on them in court...again their quote.
5:Captains most likely will be downgraded to FO's including me which by first numbers I will be on the bubble, however I was pretty much reassured I will be an FO by second wave in Oct.
6:Realignment bid will issued sometime in late July or early August to redistribute crews accordingly with flight schedules. CHECK YOUR STANDING BIDS!! If you do not have a standing bid for ALL categories, the system will put you as needed by seniority.
7: JFK which has 91 departures will be dramatically cut between 15 to 25 departures starting Sept., hence the realignment.
There was more but thats the nutshell. The major factor in these decisions are A: Mesa situation, B: Delta reductions overall....
There have been 8 strategy changes in 2008 including this one so all of this is subject to change as always HOWEVER HIGHLY UNLIKELY in this case based on the urgency and dramatic change in strategy model.
Summary, its gonna suck big time for many many workers here for awhile. Does it makes sense, not at all and they are frustrated as well. I'm just ****ed! lol! Take the information and prepare accordingly, nothing you or I can do about it except do our jobs for now. But this is very real folks I am sorry to say.

The 30 days are for furlough's. The most likely scenario is a 7 day notice for displacements due to reaignments. However that will not occure until a decision is made on what method they will use for the reductions; ie early outs, cola's , voluntary furloughs etc. Onc they get those numbers and see where they stand, then a realignment model will be utilized and displacments or realignment bid will be conducted. All of this pretty much has to be completed by end of August for the Sept. schedule especially in JFK.

p1ayn! I appreciate all the info, and I know you are pi$$ed, and it is understandable, and I'll be pi$$ed too when the time comes, and I know you've been through this before, but like you said, there is absolutely nothing we can do, except do our jobs for now. This is how this *******ty industry works. This is reality, and there are plenty of pilots that have been though multiple furloughs and are currently on furlough, so I'm not going to sit here and b*tch and moan about every little thing. I'm just grateful for the job I have. Personally, I just plan for the worst and hope for the best, that is all I can do right now. I'm going to stay proactive and already have back-up plans, there is no need to sulk and feel sorry for yourself and have a bad attitude. Welcome to the airline industry.

I've never had a problem with it, it is really and easy departure if you just think about it. I thought you were CVG based? At least that's where I seem to see you all the time...
Plus, JFK sucks because it is a hell hole... Every time I try to go down to the 'dungeon' to get some food, I wanna puke after walking in that hallway of garbage... All the male FA's are on fire, and every time I see one, its a reflex for me to lunge for a fire extinguisher and the rampies... well, I dont knwo what they are, but its not good.... exucse my drinkng
