I hear ya CRJ, feel the same way. I personally am not so upset at the industry as the economy is in the dumps and many are affected. Mostly upset at how we are treated by big brother and the lack of leadership or strategies in our own very company. Not to mention how we treated by OUR very company. In any case, that has been my approach in coming to work and trying to be positive and have back up plans. Difficult to do when motivation is nonexistant partly due to our very own managements treatment. The reason for my thread is directed to those who are in denial in that no reductions are coming. Unfortunately it is VERY real and possibly the worst reduction I personally have seen. But, I do have back up plans, one includes a margarita on the beach. What the hell, I earned it....lol!
Take care, have to pack, start a trip tomm and may miss my commute!! H*ly cr@p! running late...take care bud...hope to fly with ya soon b4 this goes down.

How many departures out of JFK did we have before about 3 months ago when the "mesa" announcement was made (that we're getting their flying).

Wasn't it hovering around 50?

So the reduction of 15-25 is really just back to a lil better than what we did have, and then the further reduction is back to what we had before.

I'm not going to be surprised to see a lot of senior guys GTFO of this crappy industry. Hopefully a ton of the bump on a log senior CVG CA's leave, it's better for everyone if they do. (no downgrades, everyone gets a buffer, saving a lot of money for the company)

BAH!

back to my happy place

Ya, I hope that is the case, it would be nice to actually have some upward movement... although I just want to keep my job at this point...

I wish it were the case, I flew with a captain a not very long ago that was very happy about about the age 65 rule. Hopefully they are in the minority, but I doubt it.

Where are you guys getting this 30 day notice? The contract only has a 14 day notice.

That's the one of the major problems with this company! Those crusty captains who've been here since the Banderante was the primo a/c here at Comair. They're fat and happy right were they are and they're the main reason our operating costs are so high.

Bubba,

I can't say that I blame those guys one bit. I mean where would they go where they could have the same QOL. In fact, just a QOL that's even close??? So unless someone really makes it worth their while, I'd stay put to. Because one day god willing I'm going to be one of those fat old crusty captains. I've already got the fat down, just need old and crusty.
