Really, last time i checked they work on the very airplanes comair pilots have fought to keep.

So they owe us for their job? I'm not following...they gave up pay also.

Our competative edge so to speak is a feeble attempt by management to lower our standards. The reason we are top heavy is because we had a good product to offer which is the very reason why DL paid BILLIONS in the acquisition of Comair. This competative edge statement that is utilized more nowadays than we have CEO's is nothing more than an attempt to lower our standards. Personally, I would rather be a small company, with loyalty, high motivation providing a quality product to our mainline partner if in return we receive the reward of longevity, stability and financial gains deserved for providing this product. This would produce the competition in a positive manner with everyone wishing to be teamed with a winner. This competitive edge BS has been used for the last pay freeze, two letter of agreements and reductions in OUR flying. How about a strong leadership that is proactive as opposed to reactive...or ANY leadership for that matter. We are all aware of the economic state of this industry no to mention this country. However, I have yet to see any POSITIVE alternative strategies as opposed to reductions in attempting ride the storm out. I have said my peace...just frustrated as everyone is however top heavy is not the problem rather is an indication of how good it used to be. Those are the soldiers i need in my battles.

Realize they gave up pay. Never said they owe the pilots or anyone else anything, rather implied that the strike did affect them as well. Im done.

From what i heard most of the LAX stuff is going the way of MCO (dropping the flights) and the stuff out of SLC will be "given to another DCI carrier".

Skywest will get it all, Comair won't see anything. If this was an agreed upon termination of contract, they've (DL and XJ) have probably been talking about it for at least a few weeks, so would've known/given Comair the heads up.

Skywest is Delta's favorite child, and will continue to be rewarded.

Well, if we're talking family relations, SkyWest would be more of a step child; but yes, it seems to be Delta's favorite. And Comair, which is their real child, gets almost worse treatment than Mesa the family dog and doesn't get thrown much more than a bone; bit ironic really. SkyWest gets more and more work and yet the airline they actually own does not; afterall it still costs them $ to operate it. I have to wonder why Delta doesn't just sell Comair to SkyWest?

In support of the Senior guys that are making the company top heavy, we negotiated a contract with the company and those senior pilots wages were involved in those negotiatins. They have been since this company started. My opinion says that if a company can't afford to pay pilots that much, then they shouldn't agree to. But since they have, then they need to quit crying about it. When you get hired with any company, your retirement is one of the biggest bennies on the list that they promote.

Wow, didn't know I tick some people off with my post. I had a bad day yesterday and it came out in that post. Let it be known I have nothing agains the senior captains at Comair...well I do have a list of those who won't be on my Christmas card list!
I wasn't at Comair during the strike. I was tooling around the Persian Gulf in the back of a Navy helo. Comair is my fourth airline. I've worked at American, Piedmont, Mesa/Freedom, and Comair. This is my second and I hope last time at Comair. I would like to move into an FO slot in the future and move on to the next step when I'm ready. (So it is a good thing that pilots have that option to make a career here)This is by far the best airline I've worked at..well I do miss the TWU wich makes the IAM look like amatures.
I like my job and like being part of the Comair team(I am not a Kool-aide drinker either, so don't go there!)...yes we are a team from customer service to the pilots. We make this airline work. Like p1ayn said, what makes this airline unique from the other regionals is it's ability to retain employees for quite a few years and the loyalty the employees give to make the company what it is. One group affects other groups in the operational scheme of things.
Comair has broken the mold of a typical regional airline. A basic regional airline is a stepping stone to the majors or heavy freight (UPS/FedEx). The senior CA's expected to stay on for a long term career would be in the training department and flight standards. Comair is unique in that it has held on to so many senior CA's. Look at the majors as well. Only a few have been able to hold on to senior pilots after 9/11.

I have to agree with H46Bubba--- The regional industry and contracts weren't particularly set up for the type of logivity that you find at comair... Maybe that says a great deal about the Sr's and the value of the strike... Deffinitly says a lot when you look directly at what the strike did to increase pay and quality of life issues industry wide. ... 145 a barrell though is something nobody budgeted for, and this slowdown in the economy has a recklessness to it unlike anything we have seen accross the board in all industries nationwide...

Might not be a bad time to look at that European job..
