RJTrashPilot, what happens to the $$ if we end up not needing a lawyer? Or is the MEC getting one no matter?
I believe that the union laws stipulate that the money is re-distributed to the members if it is not used or if there is any remaining balance once the merger is complete.

United Airlines (UAUA) announced plans Monday to lay off 950 pilots — about 15% of its total — becoming the first big U.S. carrier to impose job cuts on cockpit crews.

The reductions will likely be followed at other U.S. carriers as they race to cut costs, fleets and payrolls in response to record jet fuel prices near $4 a gallon. Industry analysts warn that high fuel prices will push some big U.S. airlines into bankruptcy and perhaps liquidation.

A recent study by Airline Forecasts predicts that oil prices of $130 to $140 a barrel could result in the loss of 75,000 to 85,000 jobs in the U.S. airline industry, including about 11,500 pilot jobs.

-from USA Today

Hang on! This summer is going to be bad, not just for pilots, but also for travelers. Hope nobody is commuting....

Do they post recipts and spending. I know it $20 but if for them to chill at the Hyatt and eat steak and lobster while they talk about what Deltas merger will do to us, then thats BS. If the money will be spent to protect us and they are willing to share how it was spent then I have no problem paying.

Spoke to hire ups, out of 300+ we were to hire only 50 were hired. All else has canx. While they couldn't totally reveal the reasons, they advised possible reasons were the injunction of mesa, another was the reconsideration of Pinnacles contract as well. On top of the obvious of the fuel and capacity reductions. The interesting issue is they do not understand why CA's in JFK are denied trades, drops etc. All the grids should be in the green according to the modules as they do staff with the consideration of sick calls, people quitting, training, instructors taken off line etc.
Frustrating and amazing how this industry changes strategies more times in a month than any other affecting everyone's lives. Been doing this since 91 and never seen such uncertainty and change.

Are you saying they've only ended up hiring 50 people..and the 250 others slated in classes were canceled?
