Great movie and even better analogy....well done!
How's this: I see the Jack Lemmon character as Fred B begging and pleading with everyone despite his certain fate. Ed Harris is our MEC that spews vitriol and misplaced anger instead of dealing with the fate that's been decided by forces bigger than he.
Alec Baldwin's character strikes me as D.S. - has the backing of the powerful company and with all the resolve and none of the compassion wrapped up in a tidy package delivered with pure contempt.
Haven't figured out Alan Arkin or Pacino yet. This is one of the best posts yet, lol

Ha! Glengarry Glen Ross. Great movie. Great analogy with Shrinkair.
"A-B-C. A-Always, B-Be, C-Closing. Always be closing, always be closing."
That's OH management's idea...ABC on the pilot group.
Q-400's/E170's etc. = Cadillac Eldorado
United Flying = set of steak knives
Reality/Third Place = you're furloughed

I love your avatar. I remember pulling up at LGA in Aug. It was over 90 degrees and our APU failed as we were taxiing in. We could not get conditioned air because they were using the cart to cool the mobile home and would not bring it over to our aircraft. Classic!

Here's the kicker. I sent that photo to the company APU oversight email address the company provided for reporting stuff like that...no response whatsoever. F 'em. You give a loser the leads and he just can't close!
Why should we do single engine taxi, cross-bleed starts and avoid APU usage? Why?

has anyone noticed how the past few weeks the company has had nothing but ready reserves for the 50 seat FO's? i count 2 FO's on long call tomorrow and the rest are on readys or already on a trip. i know that people dont get sick, but at least there should be some people on regular reserve.

Somehow they changed me from A2 to L1 for today (was notified yesterday). Lord knows how, but heck I didn't ask questions and ended up with an extra day off...maybe they actually made an error in my favor, could it be?!?!
