Fox news is worse than this message board when it comes to rumors and credible information.

Comair last in on-time performance

Delta Air Lines comes in at No. 9; as Delta Connection carrier Atlantic Southeast Airlines ranks No. 11.

Delta Air Lines subsidiary Comair came in last for on-time performance in September among airlines ranked by the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics, according to a monthly report issued Friday.
Cincinnati-based Comair had 77.4 percent of flights arriving on time in September, putting it at 19th place, at the bottom of the list. Atlanta-based Delta came in at No. 9 with 84.4 percent of flights arriving on time and Delta Connection carrier Atlantic Southeast Airlines was ranked No. 11 with 83.2 percent of flights arriving on time. Hawaiian Airlines was the carrier with the best on-time performance in the month.

A Comair flight was one of those listed as arriving late more than 80 percent of the time in September. Comair’s flight 6273 from Cleveland to Atlanta was late 82.8 percent of the time, according to the report. It was late an average of 47 minutes.
“We experienced some issues getting out of Atlanta on time,” said Comair spokesman Jeff Pugh. He said the airline has increased the block of time allowed for the route and has thus improved its on-time performance.
Comair also had the highest rate of flights arriving late 70 percent of the time or more, with 1.1 percent of its flights falling into that category.
Pugh said because Comair is heavily concentrated in the Northeast, air traffic control or weather delays that plague that region affect its performance. New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, which is one of the airports Comair flies to frequently, is “one of the most difficult airports to fly in and out of,” Pugh said.
ASA and Comair also had the highest rates of bumped passengers, which are those involuntarily denied boarding. Such bumping is a relatively rare occurrence. Both Comair and ASA had more than 3 bumped passengers per 10,000 for the year through September. Delta bumped 1.62 passengers per 10,000 in the period.
Comair came in last in baggage handling performance, with 9.37 reports of mishandled baggage per 1,000 passengers in September. ASA came in second to last and Delta ranked No. 13 in baggage handling.
Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport ranked No. 20 for on-time arrival performance in September, with 84.9 percent of flights arriving on time. That’s up from its No. 26 ranking with 78.4 percent of flights arriving on time a year earlier. The airport with the best on-time performance in September was Salt Lake City International Airport. Overall, U.S. airlines had an 84.9 percent on-time arrival rate in the month, up from 81.7 percent in September 2007.

ASA and Eagle usually duke it out for last place. Guess they have competition. Why? What's happening?
