Boiler also has it right....Year of birth has nothing to do with attitude. I guess it comes down to character.
Some people like the life better. More time at home. Not many 4 dayers our there. More interesting flying. Will make you a much better and more confident pilot then any airline will. The places they fly and the situations in which they fly we don't even train for. I don't think I ever did a NDB approach in training here. We did no circle to lands either. If you want a more "cowboy" style of flying then freight is the way to go.

How common is it for CFI's anywhere to wear a uniform shirt with epaulets?

We did an NDB approach for fun in the sim on the last day. As for circle to land- we train for that. We do a whole bunch of those in Mexico, and then there's the circle to 11 in EWR.

The owner of a flight school I used to work at is making his instructors wear them. I threatened to quit if he did that while I was there. The situation was so unbearable that I quit long before that.

Single stripe for initial, two for CFII, three for MEI. I just have to laugh.

I'm offended by your attitude, and your lame attempt at a disclaimer. Your true feelings towards gays shows by your initial response. Get over it. There are lots of young gay pilots at the regional level. And they network very effectively so expect more of them in the future. As long as they are safe flyers, I don't care what their sexual orientation is.
