This must all be done so they can feel good about being assertive, even when they haven't got a clue what they're talking about.
These kids are the sons and daughters of CEO's who will follow in Dad's footsteps and be the next generation of corporate blobs who screw up the lives of their employees. The entitlement y'all are talking about is on the management side of the fence, not the pilot side. They think they are entitled to ride us up the a$$ for a pittance- and after spending god-awful amounts on flight training we let them do it because its the only prospect we got. Can't just go downtown and get a pilot job across the street after all... so yea, when a pilot holds on to a 200k paycheck year you can bet dollars to donuts that it has been earned and is deserved. THEY OWE US, not the other way around.

My $.02 (double my last paycheck by the way).

I don't get it- entitlement is a good thing when it comes to your profession. We have studied hard, prepped for interview, trained hard and work hard. For the most part, we take pride in our jobs, and do a good job. We have a tremendous amount of responsibility- a doctor, for instance, has only 1 life in his hands at a time; we at the regional level have up to 100 at a time depending on equipment. In a day we may take 3-400 people from point A-B safely. And when the SH*T hits the fan, we are the ones to draw on our experience and background.

ENTITLED??? It ain't a bad word when it comes to my paycheck, scoffing at the amount and wanting more. Entitlement ain't a bad word for me, and it shouldn't be for you either.

SO:

HECK YES I'M ENTITLED. I AM A CLUB MEMBER.

I AM ENTITLED.

YOU might FEEL you are entitled, but the market SAYS that you are not. Sad but true.

You must be management or something. The market as you put it is fixed by the RLA, anti-union companies and an anti-labor government.

Feeling is the first step to self-actualization, apathy is the road to mediocrity and then there are tools who listen to what they are told and fall in line. Me, I will take my feelings with me and do my best to act upon them and improve my lot.

And, the industry is in trouble for pilots right now, so your statement about the market is becoming false.

Entitlement will lead us to better lives.

So if you know its not reality why have ANY expectation of it? Wish, yes, Yearning, yes. Expectation no way. Not rational.

The "old" instructors had solid names and pretty well defined career goals. The new guys generally said "I just want to fly." We were all there once. The new problem is that the regionals are sucking up new pilots who, as stated before, don't understand much about the industry. They just want to fly. I can't totally fault that, but I think it's extremely shortsighted to jump at the first company that offers you a jet without knowing that company and whether or not it can help you fulfill the goals you have.
I agree with you
