I'm not sure if XJT does their sim training in a similiar fashion to us, but I can tell you man, you're not alone. I walked out of every session up until the one before the checkride feeling like I wasn't going to get it. Then it just clicked. Nice work.

As for the crosswind landings, be nice and smooth with the rudder. Don't kick it Cessna/piper style or you're in for some fun.

But to the point of the topic... Just do your best like everyone is saying. The instructors really are there to help you (with the exception of one racist ground instructor, whose name I wont mention). If your having trouble with the FG, ask your roommate, or your instructor!

And like everyone else has said, it really does get easier after Sim3. And IOE is even easier! (except crosswind landings are tricky). The sims do a good job of preparing you, but its not the same as being out on the line doing the real thing.

Just remember too that the Flight Guidance is simply that -- it's guidance. If you set the correct info in the box, it will produce the correct guidance (except leaving an MDA as you found out). It's a lot of trial and error, and you need to just practice and see what to follow and what not to follow. A lot of times if you throw in a new heading that will cause it to turn to the left, the AP would do an initial turn to the right...if hand flying, you just need to know to ignore that until it catches up.

But anyway, I'm getting off topic. Don't forget to use your sim partner to your advantage. If your in the right seat, make sure to command him to do the things you need him to do.

Well somehow I managed two crosswind landings on centerline with no sideload on my PC today in the sim. I don't know how I did it; the pressure from being evaluated must have thrown a switch in my brain or something.

I can guarantee you that there is nothing fun about the jumpseat in the RJ. Most miserable contraption ever devised by man.
