Wow, I don't know why you would be so harsh, C. I'm sorry you feel that way. I'm not really sure what I did to you. I wasn't trying to bash anyone or the company for that matter. I don't think you really know what or who I was deling with. I only posted this for advice as I was concerned about the right choices to make and how those choices might affect my career in the long run.

I hope you don't really feel that way about me, C?

Thanks, E. The FGC is all starting to click now. I'm going to continue to try my best and keep my head up.

If all else fails, at least I know I still have real friends in Florida :P

For those that can't do both, you probably should choose another career.

Go back to Florida.
Don't mind this guy anyways. He's been at XJT for a couple months now so he's THE MAN, right?

look man... ya gotta keep on trucking through training. Get good rest when you can, eat good meals, and study whenever you have free time... you skip one of these and it will be a problem. xjt training does want you to pass and wont send you home unless you make it clear that your giving up on the training or making excuses for yourself. your not the first person to struggle through training and you wont be the last. Take everything one step at a time and dont freak yourself out. Dont think about everything you need to do in the sim just go in there with an open mind and ready to learn. he will say "do steep turns" and sit there think the maneuver through and do it. If it doesnt work out it doesnt work out. You did your best and theres lots of opportunities out there. keep your head up... and dont listen to the AH's

I did alright on the retake. I checked the outside distracions at the door and am now catching up immensely.

The other night I was so lost that I started to wonder if I had completely missed the boat during training. I was asked to turn the auto pilot off and hand fly a non-precision. My instrutor said I flew well for raw data but he wanted the flight guidance on, lol. This is where my problems started. I found out that I was totally cluless about the flight guidance system. I understood the theory but it was the application that I struggled with.

Summary of my awesome flight, The flight guidance scramble:

Selecting a new altitude before I had captured the previous, not good. Focusing so much on how to work the flight guidance panal that my attitude and airspeed went to poo. Then there was the missed that inolved a turn to capture a radial. I set the initial altitude instead of the final missed altitude. Therefore I scrambled with the callouts while creating an unnecesary struggle trying to set the next altitude/heading, all while trying to sink the VOR frequency and radial. In the depature, when to go from pink to green needles. I didn't understnd why I was suppose to have green needles if there wasn't a VOR to set them to. Oh and the best was leveling off at the MDA and then flying the flight director till I was too high to land. I kept thinking it was going to give me a glide path to the runway like the gps I have used in the past. I know, I'm a bone head. But it was somewhat clear as mud.

I felt like Miss South Carolina at the Teen USA pageant.

I think I understand it all now but it is hard to know for sure. The other night I thought I knew it pretty well too and than everything went to poo.
Give me a single engine ILS any day over hand flying a non-precision with the flight director

BTW, Thanks everyone!

There have been a ton of PM's and emails sent with advice. I now see that I am not alone here. There are a lot of people going through or have been through similar experiences during training.

Also, Just becuse I am usually the first one to vocalize what others may be feeling, doesn't mean I don't have a good attitude. I may be highy opinionated with a complete lack of grammer, but at least I don't live in Kansas.

av8tr,

I don't know you, but I feel proud of you. Well-done and keep it up.

It takes a really strong person to put themself out there as you have done on this thread- one of the most constructive threads I've seen on this forum in a long time (except for that bonehead).

Regarding that bonehead, 5% chance he/she is the Ace that they are representing, 95% chance they were far weaker than you and scraped through somehow.

I think I remember the threads from a few months ago when you were about to interview and then got hired. I feel like I've been reading your blog.

LOL. I know kinda funny. I guess I don't have a problem expressing how I feel. That might sometimes be considered a bit brazen to some. I figure better to be honest and open then bitter and two faced.

Unless you put your foot in your mouth and say some thing about Go-jet pilots to a group of people. There is always that 6 degrees of seperation. Opps...
