It's all relative, but it's not the rosy picture some people on here try to paint for us convincing us our gig is so terrible.
Yeah, and teachers also get to be home every night, have every weekend off, have every holiday off, and get summers off!! It's all relative....but for the amount of time on the road that pilots are gone for, we are not compensated fairly....especially at the regionals!

Another thing to consider from the OP is where salaries top out. Teachers? maybe 100K in a few high COL areas. Airline pilots? Could be 200K someday...

You can't condem an airline career based on a first year pay comparasion with a teacher.

Ah but a teacher gets tenure making it extremely difficult to lose their job. The same can't be said for us.

And teachers also get pensions. That being said, I have no desire to be a teacher.

SAAB my point was that a fractional isnt really an entry level job out of college, most people spend time at the regionals or a corporate job before going there. that being said fractional mins are what they say they are hard mins you cant go there period unless you have. legacy carriers higher with lower mins everyday and even post lower requirements. so back to what the post said entry level jobs, that would me regionals or even instructing.

One thing about payscales...there are no absolutes except maybe the military. And some govt jobs. A first year teacher in this area will make well less than 30K, and wont ever get above 40 if they dont get a masters degree.

I echo the above....that said I still wouldnt teach.
