Just spoke with Chuck Colgan on the phone... they are hiring street captains right now for the SF-340. Plans to hire quite a few from what he said. Just hired the first batch today... mostly RJ FO's that have been sitting right seat for a while it sounds like.

Also... they are phasing out the B-1900.

Should be interesting to watch an RJ F/O fumble his way through a Type ride in the beastly SAAB......... I would imagine an RJ F/O would have a rather tough time getting through the systems stuff. Is Dean "the marine" Bandavanis still at Colgan, theres a good guy right there, great pilot, good guy to shoot the breeze with

Oh GAWD I've spent two whole years in the right seat of an RJ and still haven't upgraded yet, my career is passing me by, better apply for a street captain gig at Colgan...

One they hired recently was in the right seat for 4.5 years at CMR (I only know because I know him). Prior to that was a BE-99 pilot (freight)... so I think they are somewhat selective with their street CA program. I know the only question he asked me was PIC/PIC multi and total time. Probably won't go--but worth looking into!

Whats wrong with applying for a street CA position boiler? I don't see a problem when you are an FO---with over 3,000 hours total time, and 2,000+ PIC? If it fits into your career plan go for it.

Nothing - if you're a 7-year Eagle FO or 4+ years into the right seat like your friend at Comair, or if you're making a move for QOL reasons only (like a domicile closer to home). I simply hate the mindset some pilots have of making a bunch of lateral moves in search of that fast upgrade. If someone has the attitude that they're entitled to that left seat or too good to be an FO, then everything is wrong with that...and we both know people with that attitude.

You gotta admit though, most everywhere (other than Eagle) is or will be upgrading pilots under 3.5 years longevity very soon.

I agree... AWAC will see 2 years here pretty soon I think! I was hired here with a class of 8... half our class is gone, the entire class behind me is gone, all in search of quicker upgrades. Some went to SKYW, CHQ, ASA, and its amazing...had they stayed here they'd be halfway up the list unstead of in the bottom 20%.

The grass isn't always greener.... Boiler--I guess by the "C-550" position your not at AWAC anymore---where'd you go?
