PoK
Just pull out your iphone and tell them you can control the airplane remotely with it.

I think you're being a little over-sensetive, EAB. First Officer, F/O, Number one, Right-seater, Co-Pilot, Gear Jerker, Radio boy, Monkey boy, it's all the same. As long as the checks keep coming, who cares? I was the best "lowly" co-pilot that I've ever flown with. I hope that you feel the same way too.
fbh

P.S. If it really does bother you, I hope that you will refer to your "assistant" as First Officer after you check out as Captain, El Jeffe, Boss man, Pilot, Old man, HMFWIC, ect, ect.

Maybe a little sensitive, yes...LoL but only because the term is used almost derogatorily (english majors - is that a word??). As a Captain you can bet my FO will be treated as my replacement and no less...

One time I was a pax on a SWA flight from CMH to MCI, and this dumb chick in front of me was talking to her fellow passenger about how stupid it was that the Kansas City airport was actually in Missouri...most people know that Kansas City proper is in Missouri, not Kansas.

Also I was once on an Air India 74 from ORD to LHR, and this chick from rural Tennessee beside me who had never flown before literally starting crying out loud and saying she wanted to get off the plane after an APU malfunction caused the lights to flicker. I was trying not to laugh.

On my post flight there was a guy educating all of the other passengers about airplanes while waiting for their plane-side bags, talking about how fast they go. He stopped me and asked me how fast the plane went. I looked at him and said, "fifteen thousand miles per hour". He turns around and said, "Wow you see. These new planes are really fast."

Last summer I was flying from BA from JFK-LHR. In the climbout we were struck by lightning. The Italian girl next to me had a similar reaction and started praying the "hail mary's." I tried to assure her things were gonna be okay...but you can only do so much when people are borderline psychotic.

Lightbulb Why didn't they think of that?

One night in ATL when everything was running late due to low visibility, a lady ranted to her fellow pax in the gatehouse: "They ought to know better than build an airport in this fog city!"

try pejorative. But I don't/have never found "co-pilot" to be offensive.
