Actually I would likely benefit more if XJET were left alone to be disassembled by CAL since the SKW group would probably gain flying.

I don't think JA wants contractual freedom to remove your flying, I think he simply wants to avoid a pilot list integration.
I don't think we are opposed to making a deal with Jerry. We are opposed to just taking parts of our contract out and trashing them without getting anything in return.

We'll see what we can bargin for. They probably won't go for one list but we should at the very least ensure that XJT flys any aircraft that shows up as a result of a converted option, prohibit the company from shrinking in aircraft if SKYW and ASA grow, and fight to keep certain bases open for a definable period.

Jerry is often quoted this phrase, "why would I buy something that I can get for free later ? "

Should XJT be allowed to fail (and I say allowed, because obviously there are options), then yes, Jerry will pick up the pieces and have his way with them.

That scenario guarantees a very bad result for XJT flight crews.

Tony-

I see and respect your point of view on just about everything you post, and sometimes I'll agree with you.

I think your being a little bit of a horses rear about this. These XJET guys are being screwed with, and put in a tight spot. Your comments about what SKW will do with them/to them could be left unsaid.

Unfourtunately there are plenty of SKW guys who have these same feelings (they're all over ORD, and I hear them talk incessantly about this), and are just as heartless about the situation.

On another note, I rode with two of your finest this past weekend, and it was an enjoyable 2 hour squat on the JS. Guys like them give me faith in this industry and SKW alike.

At least you're pragmatic. No, there won't be a combining of lists, unless it's another union carrier, i.e. ASA and XJT.

Have you considered that the XJT guys might actually have an improvement by being purchased than having their company fail and be on the street ?

Yes, there will be changes should the purchase transpire. I understand folks get nervous about that. But I don't think they're going to get screwed with. While I fully expect furloughs should XJT continue independent, I'm not so convinced the same would be true with SKW at the helm. But we all know, business is business.

Have you considered that there is some liability to SkyWest ? Comair comes to mind........

But that scenario is not guaranteed. Did you even read CAL's letter? Its obvious they are using JA to whipsaw XJT. If they are successful they will have savings on the "magnitude" that SKW has offered through XJT as an independent airline or through SKW. Its a negotiating tactic and they have left the door open for XJT to come to terms with CAL. What is it you don't understand about that?

Even if a deal is made between XJT and SKW, according to JA letter its contingent on not integrating pilots. He can't have that without negotiating it. Let me remind you that that is what we are talking about here since you ignored the rest of my reply to you and only quoted the last sentence, he CANNOT have his way with us regardless of what you think.

Again, this is not to say that an agreement to everyone's satisfaction cannot be agreed upon. This is not necessarily a bad thing for XJT depending on what is negotiated.

Tony, the thing is, you have very little knowledge of what is going on. YOU ARE guessing, you have no idea what is going on other then what you hear around the crew room You have very little fact, so I have a lot more to add to this "debate" then you do. Watching you type your "thoughts" is funny, it just demonstrates how little you actually know.

Now that's CYA at its best!
