For one- the NMB royally screwed up our union vote by sending voting instructions to the wrong addresses. Pilot's that would have voted yes were unable to vote. So right there, you don't know what you're talking about.

Secondly- Colgan, like every other airline out there is struggling to find qualified applicants. ASA hired sub 500 hour guys...XJT hired sub 500 hour guys. Colgan is just expanding faster than any airline. Therefore those 500 hour pilots they hired, aren't eligible for upgrade. They won't upgrade you until around 1900-2200 TT with at least 1,000 hours in the SAAB. To me that sounds like industry standards.

Colgan doesn't want to hire street captains. They continue to upgrade FO's in order of seniority. With that the fact that SAAB pilots refuse to work for slave wages on the Q400.

Please educate yourself before you spout about something you know absolutely nothing about.
I was in the regional long before I was at a major. Why the 1900-2200. Why not 1500TT? You know ATP qualifications.

Bu then again, you are right. Whay should I care what happens to pilots at Colgan? If Colgan pilots don't care abou the issue why should I. Point taken.

But before I go explain this one:

What happens when the musical chairs stop and no hiring takes place for a time and the most senior FO is waiting on a Captain slot. Will he/she be pay protected as a Captain since he/she could hold it but there are no vacancies for him/her because there are pilots junior to them sitting in the Captain seat? Answer that one if you don't mind.

I cannot answer that.

That is however, EXACTLY why they MUST vote in a union.

Any use of the F word, in any way, shape, or form, at this site, will buy you an infraction. Please make a note of it.

The most senior FO would probably be bypassing for whatever reason instead of bidding captain. If they weren't qualified, that's too bad. I'm sure street captains do not take all available positions. They are used as a stop gap because of the lack of qualified FOs.

Union or non wouldn't matter. I upgraded at Eagle and flew with FOs who were senior to me and ****ed because they were waiting to hold a line/base/etc and the bids stopped. Take the seat when you can.

I would agree with you. And guess what? Many of those guys were scabs at CAL. See what I mean. It's all about mentality.
